I'm in but its a short-termed goal to have $2000 by March 27th when we leave for vacation. I am at $325.00 right now; I plan on using my rebates, spare money that comes in,recycling, overage from my grocery budget, silver change (no pennies), consignment sales, auction house sales.

    Julie - Congratulations!

I need to get in on this too - tax nightmare - I have already posted my woes in hotunderthecollar. Ugh! I am gettign a second opinion this week on taxes, so I will know what I need to have saved by April 15. I know already I will probably not be able to get all of it, but this can help me get as far as I can. I will post when I know the total amount.

congrats on your little secret :) :) Im saving up for a new car. I posted in my blog about a new savings plan and I guess I can try to put an extra $50/month. I'm getting back $7k this year from backpay of SSI and the money I save will add onto that. I might end up getting a chevy colbalt instead of my dream baby. After I get my car, I'll have to save up to pay back student loans, then eventually a new place to live. Ok I'm getting ahead of myself, one thing at a time Jen. Good luck everyone with savings and your SO's spending sprees.

Hubs went to school for motorcycle mechanics...so his weakness is first his Harley, which it seems always needs a new part somewhere...just bought a new seat that it just HAD TO HAVE last week.... After his Harley is snowmobiles...and then just spending in general...magazines (motorcycle magazines are EXPENSIVE!!!) and whatnot...and now he wants to start buying junker mortorcycles and snowmobiles, fix them up and turn around to sell them...

I'm trying to put a curb on his spending, and I'll give him credit, he's doing better. Now I just have to get him TOTALLY on board with frugal strategies at home, etc., etc....

    I'll play along. :)

I'm saving up for a trip to Disney next January. I want to save $3000 in one year by taking no money from hubby's paycheck. I got inspired from a blog I read - the author is doing the same thing. I plan on saving money by:

    -doing online surveys/rebates
    -selling on eBay/CL/consignment
    -trading for pp
    -saving change/recycling/found money
    -using swagbucks for pp
-saving bank credit for using debit card and interest on my checking account

My status is in my siggy. To reach $3000, I need to save $250 a month. I am ahead of my goal, but I started out with a little savings left over from last year. We need to meet Mickey Mouse!!

ETA: Our taxes are being used to pay off our credit cards (thank goodness!). The rest will be put into our emergency fund. So that money is already spoken for.

Yay, welcome everyone!! Maybe I should do totals in the OP like Cody does for the stockpile challenge? What do you guys think?

And I have a DH who likes to spend money too- on video games and car stuff. What did I do? Made him a SAHD and I now control all the money. Muah ha ha haa haaaaa

I've been tempted to start a poll thread, now I'm curious who controls the money in most households.
