Ok.. I'm in for 2010 items too! This is a small house and it just keeps getting more and more cluttered... so I need to get rid of a bunch!

My first to do though is..... to get SBP's cool couponing hutch away from her...

Wow, I am so happy I came upon this posting. I have been making my resolution for 2010 in my mind for a couple of days, thinking I need to get rid of "my clutter". I figured I could focus on one room/area per month and really make a dent in this stuff. I don't know that I will specifically do the "2010" items/minutes stuff because I know that I will get bogged down on the numbers but I am sure that "2010 whatever" will easily be reached. Thanks a million for starting this thread and I look forward to the support from others who are in my same/similar boat. You guys rock.
    Have a happy day !

Yay! I was almost afraid to suggest this on a couponing board, but it looks like I am not the only one looking for help and encouragement in this area. You can start right away, you don't need to "wait until Friday" to get going!!! Also, if you find this thread later, just jump in where you are!!! The more the merrier!

I tidied up my stockpile room this morning. It wasn't terrible, but I did have several bags on the floor waiting to be unpacked onto the shelves. And...at the bottom of one of those bags...I found the chocolate coins that I ALWAYS put in my kids' stockings on Christmas. Urgh! We came up with a story about how Santa must have dropped them on the floor in the basement (we have a fireplace down here thankfully) and didn't realize it...LOL!

I've been thinking a bit before I posted my personal challenge because I wanted to not only make it attainable, but I wanted it to be about areas that I've really been wanting to tackle. I will be trying to organize or get rid of 2010 items in 2010. So here are my goals:

Photos - prints and digitals: Print all digitals that I want to include in albums.Organize all into albums by event and date. Rid myself of the unusables (like the blurry I can't tell if it is my sister or my kitchen counte pics). Organize all digital files by date and event and rename as such- then back all photos up onto disks (they are all on disks now, but not organized! lol) I am working on all of this now - I started with the prints and have purchased a bunch of those $1 plastic brag books from Dollar General. I removed the cover inserts and am creating my own based on the theme of the album. Then I am labeling the albums on the spine with my P-touch label maker. I am then fitting them into nice photo boxes by date. I will post a pic later when I'm working on them again (trying to do a little each night).

Little bits and pieces of who knows whats: We have several bins semi-organized with screws, knobs, game pieces, and so forth through out the house. I bought a whiles back on of those plastic drawer units with like 40 some drawers and this year I plan to pitch the unnecessaries/unusables and organize all into those drawers and label accordingly so all are in one neat spot.

Garage: This is my DH's zone so it is a big ole mess, but this year I'd like to finally get our heavy duty shelving units, the peg board (which we already have these cool heavy duty hooks for), and reorganize everythings so that I can fit my car back in! I use to keep my car in there - but in the past year or so the garage went down hill!

    That is my list!

Oh - I am so in on this one...and I could definitely use support. I am going to divide mine into both minutes and items - so 1005 minutes organizing and 1005 items. I cleaned the garage 2 weeks ago and it looks amazing - so I am motivated. I donated about 10 bags of stuff but I am not going to count that for this challenge.

    On the minutes list:
Coupons - I have a mess and need to weed out the 12/31 exp.
Photographs/albums - I have way too many photos that need a home.
Memorabilia - Need to organize the kids memorbilia
Hall closet - things fall out at you
Hall credenza - need to clean up this space
Drawers - how many junk drawers do you need?

    On the items list:
Stockpile closet - Organize, clean, donate
Mine and DH's bedroom closet - donate/sell clothes and other random things
Office - Organize, clean, donate what we do not use
    Kid's closet and dressers - donate/sell clothes
    Kid's toys - donate/sell
    Bathroom cabinets - donate/sell
    kitchen cabinents - donate/sell

Can I make a suggestion for the kid's memorabilia? If you don't mind discarding the originals - take pics of them holding it/standing next to it or even just it alone and put the pics in an album or keep a digital file. We do this for about 1/2 of their projects because it is almost impossible to keep that much stuff!

And/or get a large 12x12 scrapbook with the plastic pages and slip the ones that will fit into the pages so you just made a book of it all!

For the smaller papers (like Happy Birthday notes from the teacher etc.) use a letter or legal sized file box.

    HTH!

I'm all in for this. I'm working on my second binder now cleaning all the q's out. Tommorrow morning I plan on cleaning out both cars and dumping more newspapers & other junk at the recycling center. I will be posting my process as I go. Thanks for this challenge. It might just be the thing that gets my rear in gear lol.
I had sanity once upon a time I promise . It was just so long agoooo that I can't remember it.

I am in, I need this bad. I have a huge 3 room attic that needs major help. Its so easy to just send it up to the attic to deal with later and now after 12 years of living in this house its time to deal with it. I am running out of room up there and having a hard time finding stuff.
