My yorkie hasn't had her first heat cycle yet. I knew when I got her I wanted her to have puppies but I thought you were supposed to wait like 2 years before breeding. My coworker keeps badgering me to find a male so I can breed her on her first cycle. She says that way the puppies will be smaller and it will stunt her growth and she'll be smaller as well. Well, frankly that doesn't sound healthy for anyone involved to me.... but I could be wrong.... but I don't think I amMy neighbor says it's okay to breed on 2nd cycle so I thought maybe that's where I got the "2" in 2 years from. Or maybe it's 2 years that you should wait to let a male breed? Can someone clarify what the best option is for a healthy mama and a healthy litter.
Don't do the first heat cycle, it is way to early and not healthy for mommy or pups. I think your co-worker is being selfish and not thinking of the well being of your dog. The best bet would be to give your Vet a call.
Good Luck
