Crock-Pot Homemade Dog Food

I made a variation of what my grandmother made our dogs for years. I remember she would make a huge stockpot once a month and then freeze them in one week containers. I decided to make this and then can the extras for storage.

I know some do not care to give their dogs onions or garlic. But my grandmother's recipe had more onions than what i put in it. our lab lived 15 years on this food. The garlic is to keep the fleas away. You can make this recipe without either and it will still be good for your pet.

total out of pocket cost to me after coupon: $2. this will last me about 14 days. rice, carrots, turkey gizzards and onions were free after coupons. The chicken was leftover's from a dinner that i decided to add in at the last minute.

if anyone has any other ideas for food, i am open to trying other ones. i think my next time i will use barley and oatmeal instead of the rice and maybe do ground turkey meat since i have been getting that pretty cheap. or maybe deer since we do alot of hunting here for our food.
