Re: Any advice? Just got a Siberian Husky
I would say if you play tug of war, you should ALWAYS win at the end. This is a good time to teach the dog to leave it and drop it. This way you decide when the game is over. If the dog wins, he assumes dominance and you don't want that. Also, leave it and drop it are very good things to teach a dog. Could save his/her life.
I have three dogs. One of my dogs is a little hunter and loves to find things. I did buy him these wooden puzzles where you hide treats inside and he has to slide pieces around to get the treats. But really, you can use simple, free things to the same effect. We play the towel game where I hide little pieces of treats and roll an old towel up into a ball and he has to work the treats out. We also use cardboard boxes. This only works if your dog knows NOT to eat the boxes. I put one box inside another box inside another box (and so on) with little treats inside each one. Boy does Sarge love this game.
You could also dig a small hole and put treats inside in your yard and have him dig it up. We have done this as well. But this might just TEACH your dog to dig so if you want to avoid that, don't play this game.

Something else you can do also to burn energy. Huskies are made to pull sleds and such, not sure where you live if you get snow or not but have her pull some kids on a sled. If that can not be done you can get her a pulling harness and have pull like a small tire or a cart around the yard. I use to take my one female husky over to a friends house who trained huskies for sled and weight pulling. She loved it and knew right away what to do the 1st time he hooked her up.
Also I like to take a treat and hide it under 1 of 3 cups and then move it around and let them pick the cup that has the treat. Thor gets really excited playing it. My GS Nero is like whatever...lol
Also just teaching your dog tricks is fun and it stimulates their brain. I came across a web site a while back called "loveyourdog.com" it shows you how to teach your dog to do many different tricks.
