Anyone use "soft paws" nail covers or similar product?
Has anyone used or currently use nail covers for your dog? I found this site: Dog Scratching Solutions, Nail Caps for Dogs I am interested because our Lab's toenails are loud on the hardwood floor and it can get annoying. I'm not worried about him actually scratching the floor because so far I haven't noticed any scratches and he's almost a year old now. I just don't care for the sound of the nails on the floor but I'm not sure if the soft paws would stop the clicking or if his weight alone is still gonna make him sound like a horse running on pavement. LOL. Also I'm wondering how hard they are to put on, if they stay on well, and if they are comfortable for the dog? Any experience?

With big dogs on hardwood floors they do tend to sound like horses trampling through the house, no matter how short the nails. You can try trimming the nails as short as you can get them, so they are not actually touching the ground when he stands normally [if they are overgrown they can be gradually trimmed back shorter and shorter and the quick will recede back further into the nail, so you can get them shorter.] That way you have less of the clicking of the nails on the ground, but you still get the bumping + clomping when they run [unteach running in the house for big ones!] You might get better results with a dremel and file the nails back as short as you can get them.
I personally have not tried them on big dogs [and I would think - as per feedback from some of my grooming clients that did try them themselves] - that they will not last the 4-6 weeks as advertised if you have a very active dog, or one that gets walked a lot [excessive wear and tear].
They do work wonderfully for small to medium sized dogs to make excited hopping up or scratching at your leg less painful. And they are also very good to use on cats for a number of reasons.
