My pug puppy does the same thing.... she plays outside for 30 minutes and then comes in and poops on the bathroom floor. I tell myself that at least it's not carpet!
Ok. So I have a 1 year old female pomeranian - her birthday is today actually
We got her from a family member @ 5 weeks because her mother abandoned her. At that point, she was eating solid food (we did wet it for the first few days) and then she was completely fine with dry puppy food by 6 weeks old.
She has been crate trained since we brought her home. She is in her crate whenever we aren't home - usually 5-6 hours/day + at night. She had a few issues peeing in her crate the first week or so, but she has had maybe 3 total instances of going potty in her crate since - 1 attributed to us being away from home much longer than expected for a day trip, 1 right after she got spayed and was having some diarrhea issues, and 1 prior to being spayed when we changed her food and she had a bit of a belly ache from it
She is a normal, loveable furbaby and has been vet checked healthy.
So...onto the problem and frustration! I AM SO SICK OF CLEANING DOG PEE FROM MY CARPET! I know that small dogs can be much harder to potty train, but this is getting RIDICULOUS! She's 1 year old for goodness sake!
If we are 100% vigilent about taking her out every 1-2 hours, she is *normally* ok. The problem is that she is easily distracted and will play around outside, then come in and promptly pee on the floor. She did it right in front of me the other day. I regularly take her out while I lay in the sun or read for 45ish minutes, and she will regularly come in and pee on the floor. She also poops on the floor at least once a day. She regularly goes poop in the AM when we get her out of her crate, but won't go all day when we take her outside....then as soon as she gets inside and we go upstairs to the bathroom, start making dinner, etc. she'll poop on the floor
Seriously, getting rid of her isn't an option, however I just don't know what to doI have cream-colored carpeting in my house and there are parts of it that are simply ruined. We have tried praise when she goes outside w/ and w/o treats. If we catch her in the act, we scold her (verbally) and then take her outside immediately. By this point however, she's so worked up, she never "finishes", comes in and goes on the floor later.
She does have "favorite" areas of the house, which we have tried to keep her away from; however she just goes right by the barrier as close to the area as possible. For instance, we had to put a baby gate on our stairs because she would consistently sneak upstairs and go in the hallway. One of her new "favorite" spots is right in front of the gate at the bottom of the stairs. She also likes the corner of our dining room - and this carpet is ruined!
I just don't know what to do. Any ideas?!?! I'll try just about anything at this pointI feel like we do a good job of keeping an eye on her, but it seems like the very second we run upstairs to the bathroom, get interested in a movie, are making dinner, etc. she takes the opportunity to go potty.
Also, anyone have ideas about getting stains out of my carpet? I have a Bissell Little Green Machine with the pet stain solution, however it doesn't seem to take the "dried in" stains away.

I don't have an answer for you but maybe put those pee pads down in front of the door?
pomeranians are very hard to break! if you know some that has a house borken dog see if they will set for you for a few days while you work for sometimes this will help if they are around other dogs that are broken that is.
Get you one of those dog whisles that only dogs can hear. when you see her getting ready to go on the floor blow it, this to dose help some.

tie bells on the door that you take her out.
take her out and said "potty time" or whatever you chose. when she goes potty say "good job pottying". and give her the good old baby talking craziness to let her know that you are happy. you need to associate the word with what she is doing.
if she comes in and potty's...immediately say "NO" "no potty". then take her out right there and then and tell her "potty" and be happy outside. she needs to know that you are not happy inside when she potty's, but you are very happy outside when she potty's. she will start to associate the potty word to go potty. she should get to the point within 10 day that you say potty outside, and she should walk over and do her business.
but you have to be diligent. and whoever else is taking her out and in has to do the same thing.
now as far as the bells on the door, ring them as you go outside. give them a jingle and say "x time to go out" or "x time to go potty". she will associate the bells with going outside . she should get to the point that she will jingle the bells (put around the door nob or somewhere she can get to them..she is smal so that will be a task) when she wants to go out.

Great tips, MoM. I'm going to try those with our pug. I need to find some bells now...

They have some spray that you can spray in the yard where you want her to potty. It smells like other dogs urine and most dogs will want to mark it. That can help with the baby talk and all that if she doesn't understand what the point of going outside is.
You can also play and keep her running around (running around makes my dogs have to go at least) until she potties to the point where she has none left. Then she's allowed to go inside or play or whatever it is that she likes to do. She should be able to figure it out with consistency.
