I have the Drinkwell and the cats love it and they do drink more water which leads to less urinary problems. You can use a fish filter instead of the more expensive filters made for it. It is a little work to clean, but it ensures they have clean water for weeks. Mine is really quiet unless it runs out of water, but the extra tank on the back lasts for a week. We had the dog version, but they were afraid of it and it took up a lot of room.

I have one for my cats because one loves to drink from the tap. I guess they drink more water from it, but it's hard to tell. The fountain works great, is fairly quiet, but it tough to clean. The filters need to be changed every 2-3 weeks which is kind of expensive and a pain, but I get them at Petsmart when they're on sale. I think the brand is Drinkwell.
