Does anyone know of any good deals right now for cat stuff? Also what are target prices for cat supplies?

My fiance's co-worker asked for some help to learn how to utilize sales and coupons for cat stuff. Hours are getting cut at work and they only have the one income. I want to help them but I know nothing about cats, I've only ever had dogs around me.

The stores that we have are: Target, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Publix, Winn Dixie and Aldi's

Are there any good deals at any of those stores for cat supplies? I know of the free hartz cat treats at Target but that's the only one I know of.

What are target prices for cat supplies (food, treats, litter)? I don't believe they require any special brands, at least they haven't mentioned that.

Also showing that I know nothing about cats, how much do they typically eat? How long does a small 3lb bag of food last? I'm used to a bag like that lasting 2-3 days in my house so I'm trying to figure out how much I need to help her stockpile (she's never paid attention to the frequency of her buying the cat stuff).

Costco---do they have Costco? The best deal for a decent cat food is Costco's Kirkland dry. People who know & deal with lots of cats recemmend it. It would be worth the membership fee.

Shoprite is having a great deal this wee. Spend $30 on Purina & you will get 6 $5 GC for Purina. You can spend one each week for the next 6 weeks so you end up getting $60 worth of food for $30.

I assume you checked the Pet Freebies thread. Check coupons.com --they have been having cat food coupons. And if you find a coupon you like, be sure to go to a Coupon Clipper (There's a list on the home page) to get lots of the coupon for very little.

A 3lb bag of cat food can last awhile depending on the number of cats the coworker has. The better deals are sometimes in the bigger bags, though. About every month, Target will run Friskies 16lb bags for $9.99 to $10.99 and a $5.00 gift card WYB 2 bags. Friskies is a Purina product and Purina is wonderful about offering coupons online and in Sunday inserts and if you write or call them, they will happily mail some out. Purina does not always offer the absolute healthiest food you can get but they are a great company.

Target seems to discount Purina products alot. They also run Tidy Cat Litter very often with the $5.00 WYB 2 gift card offers. If you watch the sales, you will catch great deals for Pet products at Target.

Also, you didn't list a Petsmart in you area. But if you have one, signing up for a PetPerks card is a MUST. Petsmart has great sales and if you register the PetPerks card online, you'll also receive coupons from them via email and online. They often have Friends & Family Sales with 15% your entire purchase. They also send out $5/15, $10/30, & so on coupons every few months. Those are the times I really stock up.

I can go on and on about Pet Couponing. We don't have kids, we have spoiled dogs and cats. I really enjoy finding deals for my animals. I have stacks of food and toys and bins full of treats and wet food.

Walmart has the best price on cat litter that we've found. It's their brand, Special Kitty, in the 25lb bag. That'll change the box several times.

We switched ours to a raw diet a couple years ago. More work but it is both healthier and costs less.

Fresh Step cat litter is cheap if it is purchased in bulk - you can usually get a 40 or 50 pound container and they have a reward system. The container has a points code and you can use the points to redeem coupons for free litter for future purchases.

Thank you all so much. We do have a Petsmart, Petco, and Pet Supermarket but I figured for what they're looking for, they can probably get things cheaper elsewhere. We don't have a costco but do have BJ's or Sam's.

My walmart has some of the Iams Naturals cat food on clearance right now. They are 3.5lb bags for $2.50. You could check that out, they had some wet food also, but we don't use wet so I didn't look very closely.
