Sending prayers your way for Daddy's little Lady! We have 3 yorkies, and I've been thru it, she'll perk up....
Our Yorkie, Lady, has been laying around since Sunday and not doing ANYTHING. She's 11, but always has lots of energy but pretty much hasn't moved from the dog bed during the day. She went to the vet today. He kept her to give her fluids (she was a little dehydrated because she's barly drinking and not eating) and do some bloodwork, but we get to pick her up tonight. The vet said that he's not sure what it is but it may be her liver or kidneys. He didn't think it was her liver because her color was good and there was no yellowing. If it's her kidneys there doesn't seem that there's much that can be done. We lost one of our St. Bernards two weeks ago, and that was bad enough. I can't imagine not having Lady around since she is such a character. Besides, her mom, Keira will be lonly! I don't know how my dh will do, since she's "his" dog. She was born on his lap and her registered name is Daddy's Little Lady. We'll find out by tomorrow what it may be, so in the mean time I'd really appreciate some positive, happy thoughts, prayers, or whatever you feel like that's it's not anything serious. It's been such an awful year we don't need anything else that is unhappy. I'm going to think happy thoughts that it's nothing serious.
Here's the update- she just has two infections!! Yea!! Nothing serious! Like I said above, she acted so much better after she got the fluids Thursday and it's just gotten better. She's up and active and wanting love and eating and everything! Thanks again everyone for all of the support. It really has made a difference.

More prayers for Lady. Its amazing how deeply they get into our hearts, more a member of the family than just a dog. We just lost our son's dog last week and the loss is felt so greatly. He was my "grand dog"!! And I sure do miss him.
Update: When I went to pick Lady up she was excited to see me and didn't want me to carry her, she wanted to walk! The vet said to try and get her to eat something, and she has been hungry. She's had a small amount of soft food, and we'll probabley give her more before bed. She is so much more herself, I'm just hoping that she is going to continue to get better!
She may miss him (I believe that animals know when someone, including other dogs are gone they know and mourn), I'm not sure how much. They never interacted more than her barking at him through the fence. But come to think of it, she may be picking up on our grief.
Thanks everyone for the good thoughts, I know they've made a difference! It also helps that I just came in from playing with the St. Bernard puppies we have!
Aw, I'm glad to hear she is doing better. Sorry to hear about your St Bernard. I dread the day something happens to either of my boys.
i had a lab and a collie that were with each other for 10 years...the lab had to be put down as he couldnt walk any more....i brought the lab home and let the collie say her goodbyes...she sulked around the house for a couple of weeks...it is just as hard on them as it is us...
i am glad your little guy is going to be okay and sorry for the loss of your st bernard.
