At the last month's village meeting a cat rescue/shelter came to give a 5 minute presentation to explain what they do and to solicit donations of cash, pet food, and volunteers.

Lo and behold, this week Jewel is offering Iams premium cat food for $7.99 a bag, and at the same time, they are offering $5 "off your next shopping trip", PLUS 5 free Redbox rentals (we love these) when you purchase $20 in Procter & Gamble products.

AND! In today's P&G circular there was a $3 off coupon for Iams premium cat food. (There is also a $3 off coupon for dog food.)

AND!!!! P&G is running a special "rebate" program. Purchase $50 in P&G products, and get $100 in coupons by mail. The rebate form can be found in today's P&G coupon circular, or on their website. $100 Coupon Book - Thank You, Mom - P&G

So I ran out and got 2 more papers at the dollar store.

We itemize our deductions, and the shelter is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization so I'll be able to write off the $14.97 OOP cost in January.

Oh, and I have $6 off a purchase of $60 or more, so I'll do the rest of my weekly shopping at the same time.

My husband was kind of freaking out last week, because I've been buying "so much stuff" (we have 10 boxes of cereal in our pantry) but I showed him how much I spent on groceries this last month, and how much on sales tax (I am a Super-Nerd), compared to February and March, and it's less than half.

*Or if charity "begins at home" for you, a smoking good deal for those of you who use Iams for your house critters.
