There are far too many animals that are homeless or unwanted to allow anymore to be born IMHO. I usually have rescued dogs from the pound or from friends who got them and couldn't take care of them. It supposedly improves their temperament also.

ABSOLUTELY! I even spay/neuter some that are not my pets LOL. Thousands are put to sleep DAILY in america how can you justify not spaying and neutering? If you want a cute puppy or kittens, go to the pound and get another.
I foster pregnant dogs from NC at least once a year. Every monday at this one pound in this one town every dog, usually 15-20 often more gets put to sleep. so very sad! Do the math for every town in just that one state. Crazy!

We've always had rescue/shelter dogs so they've come to us fixed. But if I somehow got a dog who wasn't fixed yet I'd definitely spay/neuter!!

I said yes, because our Soxx is neutered. But he was from a home, that got him from a home, that got him from the shelter....Long, sad story! But, in the past, I've had my dogs and cats neutered.

Of course it would irresponsible not too. Too many unwanted pets already, both of mine are rescue dogs. One given away when they had kids, the second given away when they moved away. Typical. We moved cross-country with one and when we move back we'll take both. Pets are seen as disposable.

yup. We learned our lesson when our dog broke her chain and got pregnant before we were able to afford the fee. As soon as they allowed us to do it afterwards she was fixed. She had 3 live pups, 1 died trying to get out and 2 died before morning came. I never want to see a dog in that much pain again :( We kept 1 pup and fixed her, the other two went to good homes. Our ferret came to us neutered.

Default Re: Do you spay/neuter your pets?

Yes I do. My neighbor doesn't and at one time had 2 female cats that both had 2 litters during one summer. While the kitten are very cute many of them got hit by cars (one near my driveway) :( or just dissappeared or moved on. I know my male cat was not the daddy. There was a stray, I think, that had a little or no tail and some of the kittens had the same so I'm guessing he did it. It is really a sad thing. All these cats are gone but she has new ones now and I believe the one that was eating out of my trash can was pregnant. Not right, not right at all.

Yes, although I need to take my two boy kitties in here soon to be neutered. The rest are all spayed and neutered. We don't wish for any puppies or kittens. As it is strays just seem to find us. Doesn't help that we tend to feed them.
