We got our dachshund mix (adopted from the pound) spayed. Our registered male Siberian Husky is not neutered because I had thought I might want to breed him one time but then decided not to even do that but we haven't had him neutered yet. (We do keep him in a fenced yard away from other dogs--except our spayed dachshund mix--so he's not running around adding to the population. Our kitten will be spayed when she is old enough. She does like to go outside alot so she'll be spayed soon!

My dog is only 3 lbs and is indoor only. I don't want to risk putting her under if I don't have to. Now, if she shows any risk factors for cancer, then she will be fixed, but until then, no.

I have all indoor pets but my 2 cats have been fixed. My yorkie hasn't been just yet. But I think it's best for everyone to spay & neuter.

Every pet we have ever had we have gotten from a shelter - so it is a requirement. I would do it anyway.

Please spay or neuter your animals!!! I work at an animal shelter and I thank god that it's a requirement for all our animals before they can be adopted. Puppies and kittens are adorable but 6 months later, it's a very different story and much harder to find homes for older animals.

Please call your local shelters and check to see if they have spay or neuter surgery for your pets at a lower cost. Some can perform the surgery at the shelter or a mobile clinic and others have arrangements with local vets to perform the surgery at a cheaper cost. It's worth a phone call and asking.

Absolutely. I knew that I would only be able to take care of my one kitty so I felt it was the only decision. It breaks my heart to see unwanted, wild cats wandering around hungry, dirty, and sometimes bug infested.

Every pet we've ever had has been a rescue. It's a requirement. Even if we didn't rescue we'd still spay/neuter.

I noticed about 4 pages back that someone said they have their male cats neutered to keep them from spraying. Speaking from experience here...just because they're neutered, doesn't mean they can't spray.

Always, always, always! All 5 of our cats were rescued from a farm where the owners refused to spay the Mama's. There are far too many available pets to bring more into our community that will be homeless. It's the super duper responsible thing to do, unless you are a qualified breeder.

Absolutely! We just rescued a kitten from people that live by my mom who were going to give it to the humane society. He has his appt on Sept 12! My dog and other 2 cats are spayed.
