Nobody has a steam cleaner?
Thought about posting in the "Looking to buy" forum, but was hoping for more hits from experienced dog owners.
I had my carpets professionally cleaned after they were potty trained & I'm now thinking about the investment in my own steam cleaner vs. rentals.
I've been checking out the reviews at Amazon, but I just end up befuddled. The pet steamer by Bissell shows great reviews, until you read several reviews saying the pump mysteriously stopped working. UGH! I'm ready to pull my hair out! I can't make up my mind. :hectic1:
DF, who's buying it, wants me to go with Hoover while Bissell appears to dominate the market.
Any advice?

My friend just bought one on e-bay. They have several dogs that live in the house, and 1 of them has training issues......
Anyway, I asked him to let me know how he liked it, he says it works great.

Nope. We just had all the floors changed to hard surface, lol! The only thing left with carpet is my bedroom and they aren't allowed in unless I am there. Good luck tho!

I bought the Bissel Spot Bot. I got it at Target a few weeks ago and got a $20.00 Target giftcard plus I sent in for the $20.00 Bissell Rebate.
It has worked great for me but it only cleans up spots, it is not for cleaning the whole carpet area. The best thing about it is its so easy, you just press the button and walk away.
We actually just bought a steam cleaner for the same reason - we have dogs. They are all potty trained but they still bring in a lot of dirt after playing outside.
We were torn between the Bissell and the Hoover. DF researched both of them extensively, and we decided to go with the Hoover. While Bissell does seem to be more popular, it also had a lot more negative reviews than the Hoover did. In fact, DF could hardly find anyone who complained about the Hoover. PLUS, my sister had a Bissell steam cleaner and it broke about a year after she bought it. She had taken it into a shop to get it fixed, and the repair shop guy told her they get more broken Bissells that need to be worked on than any other steam cleaner.
Hope that helps a little bit! Good luck! :)

I have the Bissell ProHeat 2x and I think it works pretty well. No problems yet and I've used it pretty frequently. The best place I've found to read reviews is Amazon. The only thing I hate about it is the cleaning solution is SO expensive. With dogs who like to pee, poop, and puke, you go through quite a lot.
You're better off just ripping out your carpet.... I wish I could do that, lol.
We bought my mom one for Christmas...after she dropped several hints. lol. We got her a Hoover from Kohl's. We bought it on Black Friday. It was somewhere around $200 normally and they had it on Early Bird Special for $70.00. Plus you got $10 in Kohl's cash back. She loves it and it works great for her zoo...I mean pets. :) I've noticed them being pretty discounted for the past couple of years on Black Friday. I guess it depends on how soon you want it and all.
