i am so sorry they really are a part of your family and we all get so attached to them but think of all the good memories you have and the joy they have given your family.
The same thing happened to my BIL's dog (part german shephard/chow chow mix) last week he was also 10 yrs old & had cancer. He didn't want the remains so the vet gave him a plaque with his paw imprinted on it. I though it was a great gesture.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I had to go through it not to long ago. However, before the day before the appointment, she passed on her own in her sleep. Just know that you are making the right decision and Soxx won't be hurting anymore. He will be in dog heaven, happy and feeling good, looking down on you. I truly believe there is a Dog heaven. Dogs tend to be alot better than most people so if people are going to heaven, I know dogs are.

I'm so sorry Carol. We had to put down our cat last year and we put the decision off for some time. He just got so sick and the vet recommended it. It's hard to part with pets because we love them so much.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I dread the day for us when it comes.
We have a 13 yr. old Border Collie mix and she gave us a scare a month ago. Her back legs were shaking and she walked with list. Turned out she has some sort of vertigo (that some older dogs get)
Altho' some brain tumors cause this too.
But she has responded to her meds and is much better now. Tho' we've been told she'll probably always hold her head to one side a bit and she can no longer go up/down our stairs...she tried and fell. Gets around find except for the stairs.
Anyway, weknow our time growing shorter w/ her and we cherish every day. I always remember that we're giving her a good and happy life until God calls her home to play.

Oh Carol, I am so sorry. Pets really do have a very special place in our families, and I know saying goodbye to them is just as hard as saying goodbye to any other loved one.
