Now she is totally on the wellness and she hardly eats! At first she loved the food and gobbled it up. I feed her in the morning and at night. The recommened daily food intake for her weight is 2 1/4 cups. She has not been eating at all in the morning when I put her food down. So I take it away and then put it back in the evening and she eats it then.

Anyone else have this problem after feeding wellness? I was thinking maybe the food is more filling than her previous brand and she is just not as hungry?
I switched to Wellness Core several weeks ago and my dog does the same thing. At first he gobbled it down, but now he eats his fill and then I will give him what's left at the next feeding. Althugh he acts like he is starving if he thinks he needs some human food or treats! ;)

I switched from Eukanuba because I wanted to try a grain-free food. I found out recently that Cairn Terriers are prone to corn allergies. My other Cairn had skin issues his entire life so I am hoping to avoid that with my current pup.

Has anyone tried the Fresh Pet Select food? I've seen it advertised but haven't seen it in stores or any prices.

What a lot of people don't understand is that higher quality = feeling full for longer = eating less food = you don't buy as much food. Paying more for food is sensible once you realize you don't buy as much or go through it as fast. And that is not even taking in to account the health benefits for your dog.
AMEN! Right now we've got a 45 lb Pit bull mix, 20 lb yorkie mix, and a 5 lb yorkie mix (We recently had to put our 15 yr old beagle mix).

We spend btwn $20-$30 per month and feed a top notch food (Taste of the Wild). Other than a bout of Parvo my pit bull caught when she was a puppy she has NEVER had to go to the vet and she is 6 years old. I take her in about once every 18 months just for a checkup (I don't believe in vaxing). She has gotten premium food her entire life. My 3 yr old yorkie mix has never had to go. And the 7 yr old has only had to go once. Our vet cost for 3 dogs totals less than $100 per year.

Our Bichon lived until she was 20 yrs old and our beagle until she was 15.

Ok good, glad that this seems to be normal when switching to Wellness. My dog does the same things with her treats

We have been feeding our Blue Pitbull Maverick Innova Evo since we got him. He loves it and he looks awesome! Evo, in my opinion, is by far the best food you can feed your dog!

This is what I plan on switching my boys to as soon as we are done with the bag of Natural Balance I have left. Now my decision is to decide with Evo formula to start them out on...

My Lab/Pit/Beagle/&something else we can't identify gets old fashioned Purina dog chow. It's what the shelter gave him and my vet said it's OK to still feed him that. My dad's purebred German Short haired Pointer eats Eukanuba. The vet recommended that since he needs high protein.

Well, I started the transition from Natural Balance to Innova Evo a few days ago, and here's how it went: I mixed the two together, and they picked out the good stuff (Evo) and left the old (Natural Balance).

Now I have half a bag of food they won't touch!! They just pick through it until they get the gold! So basically they quit NB cold turkey. Luckily this food is sitting extremely well and we aren't having any digestive issues.

Okay, I must admit that I thought you all were nuts for spending $$$$ on dog food but after doing some research on my own and with your advice I've come over to the dark side Hehe!
We don't have our puppy yet but I'm thinking I might feed Diamond Naturals large breed puppy food when we get our little guy and then switch him to Taste of the Wild. It's available at Tractor Supply and I found IPs for $5.00 off $25.00+ spent so that helps the OOP. I haven't checked out The Dog Food Project website in depth but is there an easy way (I'm too sleep deprived) to do a cost comparison of how much it cost to feed a dog per day based on recommended daily food intake. Does that make sense????

My dog gets whatever I happen to purchase. Right now it's an Iams formula for older dogs, I think.
LOL, I was thinking the same thing. I'm old school and right now my dogs get anything, and they will eat ANYTHING (german shepherds)

Right now and for the next year or so, It's Mighty Dog: porterhouse, ny strip steak, hearty pull-style beef, etc.. (I have acquired some 2000 cans free with the q's over the last couple months)
They also get a nice supply of the bones from my cooking.
Other food scraps & leftovers.
Hotdogs as a treat and now I am in the middle of getting over 300 packs of purina chew eez sticks free with the q's.
And once in a while they catch a squirrel or a rabbit.
They Never go hungry. lol
