Default Any good solutions for reptile mites?

I went to get my skinky some fresh water tonite and saw some disgusting tiny white things crawling under his water dish. Our friend was here and he said right away they were reptile mites I couldn't see any on my lizard, but around his more tender areas (legs and tail) the edges of his scales look pinkish, so I'm thinking he has been bit. I had some Mite Off from Zoomed and soaked him and his tank. Tomorrow I am going to strip the tank, get some Betadine and give him a good soak to start healing any bites he may have, throw out everything in that tank (I have extras in storage and planned on buying him new rocks soon anyway) and sanitize and just generally chemical the crap out of his tank (it's glass so *should* be easier to disinfect) I'm going to buy some more mite off, but is there anything that would work better? I saw a variety of stuff online and I didn't know if maybe other brands had more active ingredient or a better medicine? Is there something natural I could use? Any advice would be appreciated

#1 suggestion: clean EVERYTHING, every single day for 2 weeks straight. Make sure that you use only non-toxic cleaning products, OR that you wash all remnants of product away with water before he is allowed back in his habitat. It would be better to keep his home simple for now, and re-add rocks and whatnot in after the 2 week cleaning period. Nonstop cleanliness is what will get rid of the mites, and keep them away. Also think about gently cleaning your friend with a toothbrush- its gentle enough that it won't hurt him, yet it'll help get the mites off of him. i suggest Dawn dish soap, as it is gentle enough that it won't harm him, yet will help with the mites. just be sure to wash it all off!

Ooo thank you for the toothbrush suggestion! I read that the mites probably are in the environment around his enclosure too? So do I need to disinfect all of that as well? And the better question is where did these vile creatures come from? I adopted my guy 5 years ago and he's never had any health issues!
