We use Tidy Cats Small Spaces, even tho we live in a house. We have used all Tidy Cats clumping varieties and have have had great luck. We have 2 cats, one male one female.

I second the Feline Pine or generic pine pellet litter from petsmart. Second choice is Yesterdays news [my cat's aren't picky and I never had a problem with them refusing to use their litterbox]. I don't much care for the perfumed scents of most multiple cats litters = Feline Pine is really my preferred and works just as well for my puppies when I potty train them to the litter box. It's nontoxic and if they eat some as they figure out how the potty training works with the litterbox, it's no big deal.

Never heard about the pine pellets for horses - do you have the name of the company that produces them? Does Tractor Supply carry this, as I hav enever seen it at my local feed store...

I prefer Tidy Cats, A&H, Scoop Away and Fresh Step.
I had so many Q's for Yesterday's News that I bought 3 bags. But DH just about refused to scoop the box
So I took a bucket and mixed the Yesterday's News with some Tidy Cats. He's still not a big fan of it but he's being less dramatic.
Oh - we have 4 cats... If I were you I would ensure going with the clumping kind, makes life a bit easier.

Back when we had 2 cats, we bought the electric one, sometimes I would here my oldest cat crying. I went into where the cat box was and the "scooper" got stuck halfway on a large clump - it did this often. Haven't tried the Roll Away though.

Default Re: Opinions on Cat Litter

I use Fresh Step scoopable in our automatic litter box and a combination of the scoopable and Fresh Step Crystals in our 2 regular boxes.
I have tried every brand out there and the only thing that controls the odor for all of our cats is Fresh Step.

My youngest son has a slight case of asthma that will flare up if I use any other litter.

With 4 adult cats and 2 new kittens and daily scooping, I do not notice any smell.
My husband is very sensitive to the smell and will only notice the smell when he is in the same room as the boxes and I have neglected them for a couple of days.

I buy the large bucket of the scoopable and the large bag of the crystals.
At around $25.00 a month for the two, it is well worth it to not have to worry about if the house if going to smell like pee this week or not.

dc9queen has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Default Re: Opinions on Cat Litter

I just got done washing my cat's paws again (not a pleasant experience for both of us).

First my cat has very furry paws.... she has tufts of long hair on her paws. ( I don't know what you would call that) Things seem to stick to it more.

I am using feline pine ... but somehow she is stepping on her dookie (guess it's not coated :shrug7:) and I have to catch her before she tracks it in the house. Defeats the whole purpose of having a semi-clean home.

Another thing: although my sister in law had no problem with feline pine (as in tracking) this cat seems to track it everywhere. I sweep it up in the mud room constantly.

I never had this problem when I had Tidy cat or 50-50 feline pine and tidy cat. I am going to switch back very soon. I think I'll do 50-50 pine and tidy cat.

I don't think she appreciates her paws being washed after she poops nor do I feel like doing that at 5am .

I also use Tidy Cats scoopable litter (small spaces - orange label). Seems to work the best, in my opinion. It doesn't seem to break apart as easily, and seems to mask the odor pretty well.

I heard some cats are pretty picky about their litters, thankfully my cat doesn't seem to be that case (or at least she seems to be like this one).

Yes, I think that Tractor Supply might carry this. If you can find any place that caters to horse stuff, you should find it. Equine Fresh is a brand that is linked to Tractor Supply store on their website. I just noticed that this company has a cat litter (Feline Fresh) that comes in clumping!!!! I am going to try this!!!!! Holy Smokes.....there's a rebate on their website to try it for free!

Sometimes pine horse bedding comes in wood shaving form, not pellets, so would need to specify pellets if calling around and asking.
Equine Pine (related to Feline Pine?) is one that I have seen.
I think Guardian is another name brand.

I have this box also and by far think it is the best. I love it. It makes cleaning the litter box so easy.

I use the tidy cat 24/7 multiple cat litter and think it works best in odor control for my kitties. Have tried many. The worst was Yesterday's News.
