Purina kitten chow?
I have managed to collect and trade for 24 of the free kitten chow coupons. I have 6 abandoned kittens that are approx 6 week old. So, it is getting time to cash these in. It has been ages since I have had kittens, so I am wondering if I should just go with the freebie bags, or if I am unable to place them in homes are they going to eat me out of house and home! Should I cash some of these coupons in for the bigger size bags and pay some out of pocket? Does anyone know who has the best price on the bigger size bags? These kitties are ravenous little piggies!

Re: Purina kitten chow?

I have 3 adult, rescued & neutered cats. Over the past month, have used about 35 of those free Purina Kitten chow q's for my stockpile. Best advice? Find the 18 oz boxes if possible & also find the lowest price! You are still charged for any sales tax per item.
Overall, Petsmart has the quantity & low price to hit it in one trip. I have found in stores vary widely for this deal, so shop around: example: Rouse's (18 oz box, $1.67); Petsmart, $1.79 for 18 oz box - worst was winn-dixie, $2.29 for a 16 oz bag.
As for how long you will have these little kitties-- I find that if there is a low-cost spay/neuter program in your area, fix em and then give em away. The last time I had 10 kittens to give away, I couldn't wait, but I had a handful of $15 spay/neuter vouchers in hand for each one.
Good luck to you, Kitty Headmistress! And BTW, this website rox!

Where did you obtain the spay/nueter vouchers?
And I have 4 cats, I have not used my free coupons yet, but I plan to just get the 'free' bags. And save my other $4 purina coupons for the large bags. The $8 science diet coupons with the $10 off $50 works great at Petco. I think I purchased about 5 bags and some toys, around $8 oop.

Re: Purina kitten chow?
Sorry it took me so long to post a reply - been in hospital this week.
Low-cost spay/neuter vouchers were something that the Humane Society of South Mississippi offered in my area last summer, but your local Humane Society or shelter may have a simlar program or something to help offset sterilization costs --- give them a call. Another good source is a nearby Vet college at a university - students always need some "hands-on" training.
In addition, the HSSM of Gulfport, MS has a feral cat program for those stray cats you can't get near that are breeding out of control - you rent a trap from them for a week, if you catch a feral cat in it, they will spay/neuter it for you & rabies shot and clip the ear (so you can tell from a distance it's been fixed) for around $15-20 bucks. You pick them up, and re-release them. I've caught 4 female cats this way. It's a lot of fun for me, stopping those litters! DH thinks I'm crazy.
