Default Need advice for cat urine and feces smells

I have 17 cats on my street (feral and have called the animal control several times). They relieve themselves in my flower beds so it stinks bad. any way to keep them from doing this?

I don't have any advice, but I totally feel your pain in this! We have a bunch of feral cats living in our area that just keep breeding and multiplying year after year. DH keeps stepping in cat poop and our dog has gotten fleas a couple of times in the past because of the cats. (You can actually see the fleas jumping around on the pavement!)

If you come up with anything, I'd love to hear it. We had a coyote a couple of years ago and some of the cats disappeared, but there are about 8 more now that two had litters last year.

We've called animal control, our apartment complex management, and the SPCA. he best they can do is offer us free traps so that we can trap the cats and bring them in to be fixed. I'm highly allergic, not to mention those cats are nasty with scratching and hissing. No thanks!

Ughh!

Feral cats need to be trapped and neutered.

There are lure traps/live traps you can buy at lowes? or at animal feed stores...or even online....how about ebay? and animal control will come get the feral cat if you call. We have done this.

Another thing to try is to squirt ammonia along the boarders of the flowerbeds...but this has to be redone after any hard rain and sometimes just doesn't work .

I bait the traps with mackerel or tuna.

I used to break up tomato sticks & poke them all through the mulch...sticking up enough that it's not comfortable for them to "dig" to go..but the green blends in & it's not very noticable.

This works well with my dog, rabbits, squirrels, etc. And I believe either Dollar Tree or Dollar General has them for like a buck or two.

You can also try something called snake away it is granulated it smells just like the moth balls and you dont see it.

We always burried moth balls under the mulch.because we had kids who would pick them up. They are cheaper so if kids aren't an issue it is one way to go.

Please don't use moth balls. They contain toxic ingredients, which aren't good for any animal or humans.

Cats don't like black pepper. We buy cans of cheap "dusty" pepper at Sam's and sprinkle it around the flowers, over the mulch. The pepper isn't toxic to anyone like the mothballs are, but the cats stay away.
