| Re: What pet do you have? We have 3 dogs and 3 cats.
Chicky (registered name is Marushka Chickie, we did not name her) 8 year old Red and White Siberian Husky. Was adopted from a Husky rescue place in VA. We have had her 5 years. She was kept by her previous owners for breeding only. I guess she has had lots of liters. She is sweet and gentle mild mannerd and not at all like the stories you hear about hyper Huskies. She is so gentle that she lets the 3 toddlers lay on her and what not. Of all my dogs she is my favorite. She has a lung disease that will never get better and he is on antibiotics full time to prevent pnumonia. So I am not sure how much time we will have with her. She is spoiled and gets to stay inside pretty much all day laying on the couch.
Fuzzy (or Fuzz, because he is a little ball of fur) is a white tibettian spaniel. We got him from the animal shelter. He is a little dog and a little neurotic about the affection he shows his "woman" chicky. He loves loves attention and is a good little lap dog. He is small enough to hide from the little kids. He tollerates them pretty well but when they get rough he hides out.
Gracie (we did not name her) is a tan lab/greyhound mix that we got off of free cycle. The people that were giving her away were going to take her to the pound and said she was a bit hyper. We fell in love with her big brown eyes and sweet personality. And got her home and can't figure out why they said she is hyper. She just wants to be petted and loved. She is a little stubborn in that she doesnt want to go outside and you have to coax her to go out and potty. And because she is really tall she is eye level with the table and kitchen counters...so you have to keep food off of them. We found this out after our butter was disapering out of the butter dish. LOL We think she was hit by her previous owners and she cowers. But hopefully she will learn over time that we are OK and wont hit her.
Isabella (said with an italian accent LOL), is a white and tabby striped cat. She is moody and basicly spends her time hissing at the other cats and sitting on the back of the couch looking out the window. She like my DH the best and will sit on his lap and let him pet her.
Pepsi (because he is dark like a glass of cola), is a black longhaired cat. He is still under 1 years old so is very playfull. When he was little he was quite a mean little cat and liked to bite and play rough. He has grown out of that for the most part. He just got neutered, and we got him a playmate so his is mellowing out. He likes to play more than anything with toys and whatnot.
DC (DD 15 named her after the shoes she wears LOL) is our sweet little kitten. I think she is about 2 months old now? She is a little tabby striped kitty girl and is SO sweet. She gives kisses and snuggles all the time. She is very cuddly and sweet. I think she is my fav of the cats. She is learning table manners now, because she likes to get up on the table and eat off your plate. So she is getting a taste of the squirt bottle. But once we have broken her of that habit she should be great!
All of my pets are good. We just lucked out and I have a way with animals. None of the dogs go potty or poop in the house. And the cats are litter box trained. Pepsi had a problem when we first got him with pooping under the coffee table. He was pretty young and wasnt quite trained yet.
I have always had cats and dogs, done fostering for dogs in rescue groups over the years.

| Re: What pet do you have? I fell in love with my dog Tucker the moment I saw him. He's an Australian Cattle Dog/Pembroke Welsh Corgi mix.
We had been driving around all weekend to the local rescue places and the various pet stores to find a dog to adopt. We were about to call it a day when DH remembered another Petsmart we hadn't been to yet. We drove over and they had the "Watermelon Mountain Ranch" rescue dogs there that day. I saw Tucker and it truly was love at first sight!!
His first owner was an abusive dog trainer, and the rescue somehow came into posession of him. He had been adopted out to another family the week before but they brought him back because he was so naughty (jumping on counter tops, nipping at everyone's heels, chewing everything in sight). He had just been dropped off at the store again about an hour before we got there! We took him for a walk and he was the most loving, sweetest dog I've ever met. You could see in his eyes how smart he is. He was trained well and housebroken. I wanted a big dog so badly but the apartment management set a limit at 40 lbs. With the strange mix that he is, he's got the attitude, power and strength of a big dog, but always comes in right at that 40 lb weight limit.
He is spoiled rotten and loves toys. He has 2 wicker laundry baskets full of his own toys and gets so sad when any of them have to be thrown away. He knows every toy by name and will hunt them down if you tell him to "Go get blue bear" He loves the beach, playing frisbee, and gets along with other dogs horribly because he's so bossy.

| Re: What pet do you have? I got my little Mickey in 2002 (acutally he's 16lbs), he is a tuxedo kitty. We went down to the local pound to choose a new addition to the family for my birthday. As we were going from one cage to another we hadn't quite decided on sex, age or color etc. As we were looking at one older female longhair in an upper cage, this little kitten (6 months) was climbing up from the lower cage grabbing ahold of the bottom of my shirt. Twice I untangled this little one from my shirt. It was just about the third time I was going to pry him off, I realized. It wasn't up to me to choose, he had already chosen me. We had him snipped, chipped and dipped and the next day he became the newest addition to our family. And this onery lil crumb snatcher, treat pig, bed hog nicknamed "Orick" has been a wonderful heartwarming part of our family. |
