Default So, who has pets other than Cat/Dog?

I got a really great deal today on some fresh green beans. (4 and a half gallon size bags for $1.50) There were about 2 quarts worth in the bags past their prime. So I par-boiled, or blanched, or whatever it's called (30 seconds in boiling water, then cold rinse), and froze them. I added vitamins to the water that I was cooking them in b/c they are for my Iguana and Bunnies when we need fresh. I'm just wondering what everyone does to save $$ on their non-traditional pets. We raise our own food for the Gecko's and snakes and have come up with a number of ways to save the clearance aisle fresh fruits and veggies... It just got me thinking there are probably lots of tricks out there since coupons aren't exactly abundant in this world. Supplies for non-traditional pets are often expensive too, so please share your money saving adventures in the world of exotics and others. But please post if you have companies that have sent you coupons too. I haven't found any yet. Thanks bunches!!

as far as saving money goes - I wish petsmart had been sending out coupons when I had the degus. They are very similar to Chinchillas, only much smaller.... If I still had them, I would wait for my Petsmart mailers to come (I got 5/25 this time, so that is a decent savings when it comes to buying food that I have yet to find q's for!!!) Other than that, they often got the ends of the lettuce at the end of the week, when DH's salads were done being made for work - and little pieces of whatever veggies they could eat while I was chopping anyway --- and like you had said Leann, they were good to save the food from the "buy me before I get tossed" bin at the store - they truly do not care if it is pretty or not :)

I can't wait to hear what other people come up with!

we have a ferret. No really saving money on his food, just watch the sales and compare the price per oz.

CHEF Re: So, who has pets other than Cat/Dog?

Hello, just signed up at HCW today, I hope to find some good coupons to help save a few bucks. Not sure how to navigate around this site yet.
We have a Parrot a Hanas MCCaw hes a small parrot. he eats Zoopreem fruit flavor pellets. We also make homemade goodies for him. He loves spaghetti and I make corm bread and put and put green and red peppers in it. He also likes also frozen mixed vegestables and he likes oranges and cherries. Wheat toast with peanut butter on it.
Please let me know if there are any Zoompreem coupons out there, the pellets ate $8-$9 a bag. We also make homemade toys for him out of paper rolls, paper cups and large beads. meaduring spoons anything he can't hurt himself on.
Bird toys are outragiously priced. He likes the handmade ones just as well and likes chewing them up

for pets who eat pellets like the guinea pigs I used to have, we have a pet store called pet world who sells the food by the pound - last I paid was about .49 per pound, and then every few months they would have buy one pound get one free, and I think you could end up getting like 3 free pounds per visit ... yeah, I stocked up!

We have turtles. Their food cost about $5 from petsmart and they also eat leafy green vegys and apples and feeder fish. No real savings for them either.
