He's a 5 month old terrier.

I've never had a dog before, anyone have any book recommendations?

Very Cute hwat an adventure you have embarked on. I am sure others will have book recommendations.. we have 2 hamsters I haven't had a dog since I was 4!!

I like Cesar Milan's books. Get "Cesar's Way" He explains life from a dog's point of view so you avoid problems before they start. Or fix them after they start. He's the guy with that show "Dog Whisperer". I also like "Housebreaking puppies for Dummies"

I SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND going to leerburg.com and getting "Your Puppy 8 weeks to 8 months" also "Basic Obedience".

They are both inexpensive and will do you WAY more good than going to dog classes anywhere.

Congrats! what a cutie! I wholeheartedly recommend "Good Owners, Great Dogs" it's a reference book that can be used for puppies and adult dogs. Seriously, I read it cover to cover and I am always flipping through it for ideas/guideance/advice.

The Amazon reviews also helped me decide.

Awww how cute :) Is it a jack russell? It kind of looks like one.

My parents jokingly call me the dog trainer of the family lol. My best advice is to use the internet. I find the information online more helpful than any book I bought.

Just remember: be patient! lol. As cute as he is, he's going to make a mess whether you like it or not lol.

BTW, what's his name?
