Re: Pathmark 11/6-11/12 luvmymini - I apologize for using such a strong phrase in my post - however I said it may have been accidental.
Additionally, I would like to say that I did not notice the date on the coupon match up for Pillsbury brownies. I incorrectly assumed that you were matching up an older (but still unexpired) Pillsbury coupon expressly meant for the minis. I apologize. The coupon in Sunday's inserts may be for the correct product. That one's on me.
I posted after a frustrating 24 hours of doing my own coupon matchups for Waldbaums triples. The previous night I ran across tons of fraudulently photocopied Bricks coupons all over Stop & Shop. I don't know whether the shopper knowingly broke the rules with photocopies or didn't know better. Yesterday I watched a woman in the sco at Waldbaums blatantly using a coupon that did not apply to what she was purchasing. I saw cleared shelves at Waldbaums just hours after triples started. However, the areas cleared were for larger sizes or incorrect varieties of items or less expensive 'cousins' in the product family - the only coupons available do not apply to the items missing.
Unfortunately the misuse of coupons - whether intentional (there are many who decode coupons and use them for items for which they are not intended) or accidental is very common. Myself and others have been frustrated by cashiers who mistrust all couponers and think we are all out to steal. We've all been there - rolled eyes when handing over a pile of coupons. Indignation when we get the out of pocket money down to pennies on the dollar with bags full of groceries at the end of the conveyer belt. A coupon beeps and then the reasons why it beeped start flying 'you can't get something for free', 'you have to purchase what is pictured on the coupon, you can only buy what the coupon shows - vanilla - even though it says 'any' frosting'. In my favorite grocery store I can no longer insert my coupons in the self checkout lanes anymore - I have to give them to the person monitoring those lanes. This is because they were getting machines stuffed with expired coupons, and those obviously not for the items purchased. The honor system is no longer good enough. We the many are suffering for the sins of the few.
There are many beginner couponers on the internet looking for help in starting to save money and assume the information they are finding is correct. I didn't know to double check everything when I first started.
I realize that you did not ask for your match ups to be posted on a public forum. However, you are running a website/blog as an enterprise and presenting yourself as an expert. You say 'These are the match ups'. You do not tell the casual reader to 'proceed at your own risk and please verify that the coupons listed apply to the correct product and please report any inconsistencies so that I can post corrections'. Unfortunately, information is often copied from your site to others and even if you make the corrections on your end, those corrections do not make it down the chain. There are many couponers who will run with the match ups assuming that the research has already been done. There are also couponers who will see that the coupon doesn't really apply, but will use it anyway since they can see that it will still go through the register systems.
The misuse of coupons is on the rise in this economy. I always physically verify any coupon match up before I post it since I do not wish to accidentally or purposely contribute to coupons being misused, however innocently, by a shopper. Others should do the same.
I apologize for upsetting you. |
