Thank you! Repped.

I did the mini-wheats yesterday and got the free gallon of milk Q.

Today, I did the Blue Bunny Ice Cream deal.

I definitely plan on going back!

The only Q I found on Blue Bunny.com was for sweet freedom cartons. Are there Q's for the Ice Cream anywhere else? Or am I too late?

I had a couple of interesting/poor experiences at A&P today trying to do the Vicks deal. At one store, I bought a Dayquil Mucus variety and when I checked the price on a store scanner before checking out I noticed it was not scanning at the sale price, so I knew there would be a problem. Sure enough, it did not ring up on sale and as a result I did not get my $7 OYNO. Fortunately the customer service guy at that store was very reasonable and he agreed to give me the item for free (since it scanned at the wrong price) and he gave me a $7 rain check for the missing coupon (this is how they handle Catalina's that do not print). Then I went to another store where I bought 3 more and they did ring at the correct price. First problem occurred when I tried to redeem the $7 rain check and they had to call the manager over, who initially refused to take it, claiming something like I should use it at the store that generated it because it cost the store money (like I am supposed to care?). He eventually agreed to take it (very grudgingly) but then my $7 OYNO did not print (and I knew the coupon printer was working properly because it printed other stuff). So I went to customer service, and there they told me "you have to spend $20 after the card" to which I told them "no, you don't, I do this all the time and I know how it works" (and I see someone here confirmed that is the case for this deal). So they all over the manager, and of course it's the same guy. He refused to budge, claiming it was on the post-card price and that I was wrong. I then called him an AH and he said "same to you", which was not at all appropriate for a store employee to do. Has anyone else had problems with the P&G OYNO? I figure I can call Catalina about the missing coupon, and I will be contacted A&P corporate about this and maybe call the store tomorrow to speak to the main store manager since I certainly hope this guy is not it (I know I had not seen him before). I'll also post my story on the A&P Facebook page, which I suspect will get more attention than my call to corporate.

I have not met any customer service person yet who believe that the deal is supposed to be on shelf price. This would be at any supermarket chain. They all believe its based on sale prices. After all, you could sometimes get stuff for free if it were shelf prices and that would be kinda silly to run a promo like that, right

I would think twice about putting the incident on facebook. You called him an ahole first, so you think he should just say Thank you very much, can I have another? because you are the customer and he should kiss your dutpa. He just doesn't know the rules, he's not trying to be an ahole. Posting it on FB may cost the guy his job or cause serious issues with his livelihood.

I would not have been as upset with him if he hadn't given me a hard time with the rain check redemption, which was just stupid. And I know the most CS people think it is based on the sale price, but I've never had a case where after I told them they were not correct that they did not give in and give me the coupon. Certainly the manager should have just said to give me the coupon since I was so adamant about it working. If necessary, he could have tried scanning other stuff (like the Blue Bunny) to see that I was right. And given that he knew I was going to call corporate after asking for his name. if he had half a brain he would have given in rather than risk the chance of being wrong. Oh yeah, and I will probably call Catalina and get them to send me the $7, I am sure they will honor it. I may call for the first one, too.

I had a similar problem at WG on Friday, the manager told me it was because I had paid with coupons. I told him no, that's not it. He then said he would try scanning one and totaling it without coupons. Of course, no coupon printed. At that point he admitted that I was right and took my stuff to another register and got my coupons.

WE all know that the catalina deals work on regular price.

The customer service employees and the management do not know and refuse to believe it. I approach any catalina deal I do as 'entering at my own risk'. If I am not willing to walk away with the products without the catalina - I do not do the deal. I have tried on a few occassions in different stores and not a single person at the customer service desk has bought into the shelf price theory. I don't try.

I do not think it was unreasonable for the manager to ask you to use that $7 raincheck in the store that issued it. That store should be taking the hit for the in-store $7 off their bottom line.

Calling someone who is trying to listen to your concerns an AH is totally uncalled for - and to expect a polite response in return is unreasonable. Do unto others - if you can't take it don't dish it out, etc. You normally get better results in cs dealings when you keep a level and polite head.

To call corporate on him is taking it to another level completely. Please do not do this.

Calling catalina to get them to issue a $7 OYNO for the first deal that did not work and that the store gave you a $7 raincheck is cheating.

I think you should rethink how personally you have taken all of this. You will only make it harder on yourself in the long run - you will get nothing but scrutiny in that store and others you visit. Believe me these store managers talk to each other in district meetings, etc.

Also, if you make a really, really big deal about this and try to keep pushing it a rung up the ladder - don't be surprised if the catalina deals really start working on sale prices - it's an easy fix. They do other in-store promotions on sale prices and plenty of other stores do catalina deals on sale prices. So, ...

Can you do the P&G deal again, use this $7 OYNO and get another $7 OYNO? I know at Wags you can't do this but not sure of the rule at A&P.

USUALLY A&P/Superfresh/Waldbaums Catalina OYNO deals can be rolled - but 'enter at your own risk' I haven't tried this specific deal

I've rolled before @ A & P (not this particular time though because I had other cats to use up). The last time I tried this deal at yet another A & P ( I try not to make repeat visits into the same A & P so they don't get tired of seeing me LOL!), the cashier asked the manager how to input the doublers. He looked at my remaining total due $5.00+ and said "No more coupons!". I explained that they were legitimate $1 manufacturer's that would be doubling & he said "You have to pay something! You can't get everything for free!!"

I let it go & paid. Yikes!! Haven't paid that much in weeks. Next time I'll try a smarter looking cashier.

I disagree with pretty much everything you said (except for our all knowing they work on the card price). First, they kept me waiting 5 minutes at the self-scan while they tried to figure out what to do and while the manager (he is not the store manager) managed to take his time coming over and another few minutes while he told them not to take it. The rain checks do not say you can only use them at the store that issued them. This is not Shoprite where the stores may be owned by a different company. How is it any different than if I had a raincheck for something that resulted in a $7 discount?

The manager was NOT listening to my concerns. He was convinced that he was right and had no interest in hearing otherwise. I only called him that after I had determined that he was not going to do anything to resolve the problem and was ready to leave. I could tell he had no interest in giving in to me a second time after losing the battle of the rain check. If he hadn't been such an AH I would have told him to get a container of Blue Bunny ice cream and scan 4 and a card and prove to him that you get the coupon based on regular price. But as I said, he was adamant that this was not the way it worked and had no interest in trying to satisfy me.

The deal should work the way we know it does. If you're willing to walk away from $7, good for you. I don't do that.

Anyway, I called Catalina today and they were able to find my receipt information and said that none of the $6.99 6 ounce containers were in their system as qualifying for the deal, so they're not going to do anything for me. He told me to go back to the store for them to resolve it. Since the ad clearly shows Vicks 44 Custom Care (which is what they were) 6 ounce in the ad, A&P obviously made a mistake. I strongly suggest that no one try these as part of the deal. I never would have had the stores I went to had any stock on the regular Dayquil/Nyquil. Actually the second store had one bottle and the guy confirmed that it did qualify.

So this leaves me going back to store #2 to get my $7. I called the store after Catalina and got a different manager (but not the main manager). He confirmed that they should have taken the rain check from the other store without arguing and told me to call tomorrow when the store manager is there and he is sure that the guy will resolve the issue for me.

FWIW, no one from A&P corporate replied to my Facebook posting.

Oh, and I don't really think it is an easy fix to make the Catalina deals work on the card prices. Their system is separate from he registers, and they are fed the items as they are scanned and keep track of whether you qualify for the offer. This is why you don't see on the receipt if the items you purchased qualified (which would really make things easier in cases like this).
