I am sorry to hear you had a negative experience, and I don't mean any disrespect, but either one of those actions strikes me as a bad idea when you're trying to do a money-making Bonus Bucks deal multiple times, especially if it is perhaps not that big a store.
It does bring extra attention to both you and the deal itself, which might have long-term negative consequences for you, as far as shopping in that store, and for that deal or similar deals. You may "win the battle" this week as far as getting this week's deals, but you may "lose the war" as far as that store and future deals. (I want to say that I don't mean to imply, by my use of the "battle/war" analogy that shopping or couponing is about "battles" and "wars" with the store; that analogy just came to mind because in your post you wrote "Well, who won...".) I think it's better, with certain deals, to FUTR a bit.
I was impressed with how you seem to be handling it emotionally, as far as your other anecdote where you wrote "I knew what she was doing, she was trying to make me feel uncomfortable (which she was) I just tried to turn it back on her saying that her efforts were actually helping me." It sounds like you managed to stay very cool and collected about it, and you parried back nicely. How did that cashier respond when you treated her discouraging behavior as helpful and nice?
Again, sorry to hear you had a negative experience at SF.
