SAD SuperFresh ~ My first Unpleasant Experience

I have been couponing for just under a year and I have finally had my first bad experience at my favorite SuperFresh!! I get the best deals there so I figured it was only a matter of time!

I usually go late evenings after my kids are in bed so I can concentrate, well usually the night clerks are great but this one lady whom I have had stare me down before came right at my elbow and stared at me and the screen the entire time - as soon as I entered my coupons she pretty much picked my coupons/paper/list up and gently moved me aside pulled out the coupon tray and dug through all the coupons I used Of course this is a night I am doing two transactions so one would think since I had pretty much the same stuff she would leave me alone right :shrug7: Nope she stands even closer this time and does it again...I felt very uncomfortable but she found nothing wrong with what I did but boy am I going to avoid going on nights she is working!!!

What I dont understand is their machines are very good, they adjust so there is no overage and the one time i miscounted and scanned one coupon too many it let me know. She was very intrigued by my P&G booklet coupons so I dont know if she thought they were internet coupons or what but I would have gladly handed her my coupons to check if she had asked but she did not say a word...the only thing she said to me was No when I asked if something was wrong (after she shoved me aside) and oh after she checked the coupons. Needless to say I felt like I was doing something wrong and uncomfortable when I shouldnt have felt that way.

which location was this at?

sorry you had this experience. you can keep asking questions as to why she is doing that and all. there is no reason to single you out like that.

It was in Odenton...I was just shocked by it as I have read the horror stories but have never had any issues and they usually are pretty friendly at this store. I just would like to be able to shop and save and not feel like a criminal while doing so!

I did try speaking to her but she obviously was not very forthcoming as she said no, when I asked if there was a problem, yet she kept digging. She was blocking me from paying as well because the minute I hit continue to pay that is when she moved me out of the way. I am sure they have probably had issues with people using internet coupons or something at the self checkouts but if she had asked I would have gladly handed them over for her to look at, then she would not have had to dig thru the coupon bin.

Was she an older lady with gray hair? If so, she has been there for years. I recall years ago she did the same thing to me -- so I stopped going there. i woudl definitely complain to the manager and also write a letter to headquarters. I had a similiar incident recently at Aspen Hill. While I was still scanning my coupons and putting them in the coupon box, the woman opened up the coupon box and started going through the box. I was going to go the following week on purpose to run into this woman and tell her off -- how rude she was and go the manager right then and there... but didnt' bother...

I looked on line and found this for superfresh:
Customer Relations: 1-866-44-FRESH
(1-866-443-7374)

i'd call and ask who to write to or who you could call.

It may have been the same lady...I did email corporate and they replied early today that they forwarded it to the store but the store never contacted me so I am planning to call tomorrow to follow up.

I hope they at least talk to her about customer service but if you had issues a while back I am going to say I was neither the first nor the last that she has done this too so I doubt it will do anything

its sad to say but with so many people couponing that coupon fraud is on the high and i have heard people stuffing plain paper in the coupon slots or expired coupons...definetly not saying anything like that meaning you are doing any of it im just saying i feel the coupon crunch is getting worse everytime i shop due to the bad apples out there...it really stinks when u are doing nothing wrong to have someone treat u like that, i know i have had similar experience...i would complain about this lady, she can be a coupon hawk without being so rude about it, if she has you to the point where you dont want to shop at their store when she is there then i think the manager should be aware of it, she might just need a talking to about her manners
