Tips: Bed, Bath & Beyond ~ tips from a former employee!

Okay got a question.. lol
We bought a brushed stainless steel trashcan from BBB (SimpleHuman) It was discounted because the area that once had the manufacturer's sticker had been discolored for some reason or another. It retails for 179 but we got it for 24.
I wrote simple human hoping they could give me some tips on how to fix the discoloration and they sent me goo-gone but the goo gone only made matters worse.
Is there anything I can do? I know that I got it on a discount but I am hoping maybe there was some technique you guys used in the store to correct this? Or do you think simplehuman would be willing to replace the can (lol wishful thinking I know).

I used to work for Linens-N-Things and one good tip that is in addition to these shared is that if you are going to spend a LOT of money (like over a thousand or two) redecorating or something, talk to a manager. Invariably, if someone came in and wanted to spend their several thousand $$ at our store, the manager would give them a 10-15% off the total purchase discount.
It can't hurt to ask!
