Does anyone know what happened to the OP?
What I have been buying lately:
Arnold 12 grain bread-- at 2/3.29, it's better than I can do anywhere around here, even with coupons
Rotisserie chickens-- same price as Giant Eagle, but at least 50% larger
48 oz bags of Craisins-- again, better than I can do on smaller bags with coupons
Bananas-- 3 lb for $1.23ish
Chicken breasts-- always around $2/lb, which is better than the local groceries

I think it depends on what you need and where you live - the couponing in my area is 'ok'.
I joined sams originally for Monster Energy drink - at 1.25 a can, I can't beat it anywhere else. At best, the grocery store will get to that on sale w/the rare coupon but typically they will only have a dozen cans on the shelf so we can't really stock up.
I also get cat food, dog food, toilet paper and paper towels there - I can't beat the prices at the store even with coupons. However, I am careful to do the math on what i buy there.
Just as an fyi, you can see their actual price for your local store on the website - that's how I figured out that Monster was a great deal for men - it easily pays for the yearly membership ($40)
