FYI Trader Joes ~ "Try it, you'll like it" policy

I just wanted to alert everyone to a little publicized Trader Joe policy. They are very generous with returns and encourage you to try new things. If you are not happy with it or didn't like it, just bring it back and they will refund you very cheerfully. I have had two or three instances over the past few years and they were really nice. I am not saying this to imply someone should abuse it, but sometimes you take a chance and try something and it is gross and you throw it out. They don't want you to do that. I bought a new healthy cereal from them a few years ago and it was really yuckky. I eat that stuff all the time so it has to be gross for me not to like it. They took it back no questions asked. Also, one time when they sold President fat-free feta, it got moldy before the date. Again, no questions asked. Just for your FYI, try out something new at TJ's and be adventurous.

Isn't it great to go to stores that have liberal return policies? TJ's has been very kind to me, also, in this regard. I wish more stores would be this way. Costco, historically has been good in this area, too-- although I hear that they may be tightening up... Anyone have info on this?

I have had good experiences with TJ's as well. I once bought some jarred fruit that I didn't like and another time I bought some rice crackers that no one in the house would eat. Each time they gave me a refund. No forms, no dirty looks, just cash in hand.

I bought some dried apricots from TJs a few months ago and they were horrible! Usually they have the best. I took them back and the manager not only gave me credit for them, he called someone higher up to have them check into the lot number.

I haven't bought anything at TJ's that I didn't like yet. But this is good info to know just in case.

I wish I had known about this policy when we did our first and only shopping trip to TJ's and bought this package of frozen Mexican mini tacos that tasted terrible.

In the store I worked in if someone came in weeks/months later and told us that something did not work out for them we would give them the store credit no questions asked. So even if you bought something and no longer have the packaging i would explain to the cashier and most likely they will deduct that item's price from your next grocery bill.

I bought some really horrible beer there once. Took it back without any problems.

And I take stuff back to Costco all the time food wise. They are much tighter on returns as they used to have a forever policy. They have time restrictions on just about everything now but they seem quite reasonable.
