My parents bought their couch at Big Lots. They have no complaints and they've had it over 5 years. It's still comfortable and nice looking.
I am looking at the couches and recliners at Big Lots. The prices are great but I'm not sure of the quality. Just wondering if you know anyone (or you have yourself) bought furniture there? I looked online and there is no "brand" or manufacturer info listed.
Thanks
Beth

With furniture purchases, you tend to get what you paid for in terms of quality. I would check out regular furniture stores and look for their sales; also some stores have outlets.
We bought a recliner from Big Lots two years ago and it is still in good shape. Actually pefect condition. I don't have real small kids though that hang on the foot rest and that may make a difference.

I have seriously considered furniture from Big Lots in the past but the only reason we haven't purchased is because they don't deliver and we drive a Civic. So no way to get an extremely large purchase home unless we rent a U-Haul or the like.
That's not always the case. I have bought named brand furniture that didn't hold up as well as non name brand. It was expensive but it didn't hold up as well as the non-name brand furniture. I find that a lot of the furiniture stores in my area sell over priced furniture and the quaility is not all that.

I agree-- I think it used to be that name-brand furniture = good quality... but like everything else, I believe many companies have figured out ways to cut corners on materials, workmanship, etc. but still appear top quality AND charge the high prices.:shrug7:
From what I've seen personally, I don't think there's nearly as much difference in quality (if any) between name-brand and no-name furniture anymore.
That being said though-- if you plan to keep your new furniture for many years (like 10, 15, or more years), you may want to check out the name brand companies first and ask about repair warranties... My dad's recliner recently stopped working right, after about 8-9 years of hard use. But because it was made by LazyBoy, the mechanical parts have a lifetime warranty-- it's in the shop right now being fixed, all free of charge! I also have a friend whose LazyBoy hide-a-bed sofa had a metal bar break on one side of the bed; the local store/repair shop picked it up from his apartment, fixed it, and brought it back, all for free! :)

Check out my avatar-- my sweet tortie Annie is not fond of cameras, so this is an online look-a-like! Ain't she a cutie?
I have an Ethan Allen couch that is 16 years old, that is the one I want to replace. Unfortunately, having it recovered will cost over $1000 and I just can't swing that now. But it has held up really well over the years.
The thing I was wondering about quality is just because many companies make no-name items that are the same as their brand name, so the quality might actually be higher than it appears from the price, yk? Of course, I know that isn't always true and many times you do get what you pay for.
Now, does anyone know if I get my 20% coupon, can I use it on furniture? I haven't been part of the Buzz club (? is that what it's called?) previously.
Thanks for your input (all of you!)

I agree with Mexi & hopeky.
We got a new reclining sofa & loveseat on "sale" when I was preggo for DS 5+ yrs ago and it brealy lasted 4 years. Aweful quality (PeopleLoungers) that tore and got crooked but cost a pretty penny (over$2k) -- We replaced the set 1 1/2 yrs ago with a leather sofa and loveseat made by Italsofa (looks like this one in a lighter color) for well less than the previous set and it is awesome. Leather wipes clean and lasts great with 2 young kids and a crazy dog!
