Other National Chain Store ~ Question: Big Lots ~ any body buy furniture

We purchased a living room suite at Big Lots and it was the biggest piece of crap, litterally, that we have ever purchased. 2 weeks after we got it home, the couch broke in the middle, so you sank down to nearly the bottom when you sat down.. My hubby, being slightly handy, opened it up on the back to see what was wrong.. All their furniture is put together with 1 x 1 or 1 x 2 pieces of wood and the section that broke had a big knot in it.. We called Big Lots to activate the warranty and they gave us the run around for weeks.. Then whey they finally did do something, they said the warranty was void because my hubby opened up the underside to try and fix it. About 8 months later, the loveseat also broke and they all ended up in the trash in less than a year. Total waste of $700

I have many pieces of furniture from Big Lots; including our sofa, recliner, and loveseat. Never had any problems and they were a great deal!

Big Lots carries Ashley Home and Ethan Allen; so they do carry top quality furniture.

Sorry you had these problems! Sometimes, though, you can get a bad lemon anywhere. My brother once paid $1500 for a sofa from a VERY nice furniture store, and his broke in 2 weeks also.

DONT DO IT! As a newly married couple my DH and I purchased a sofa and loveseat from BL. It seemed perfect for us b/c of the price and it was comparable it seemed to the really expensive microsuede durapella brand sofas. IT WASNT! Condensation from my drinking glass got on the couch and stained it! Also, we bought the furniture right before my DH deployed and by the time he got home almost 7 months later the furniture was CRAP! Keep in mind I was the only one sitting on this furniture and I am not overweight. But the cushions were so friggin thin you could read the newspaper through them. When you sat down you could feel the plywood board under you as the furniture did not have any springs. Also the loveseats are not really loveseats. They are basically oversized 1 person chairs as 2 people can not sit comfortably on those darn things. I was so furious we loaded them up and returned them to BL and went straight to the military exchange and bought a nice set of Ashley cocoa durapella couches and have loved them ever since. I would stay away from any BL furniture if I were you!

we have a sleigh bed we got 5 years ago at big lots...it is really sturdy. 2 years later we bought the rest of the set -dresser w/mirror, drawer dresser and i love them...great quality ...when you buy the cheap stuff the drawers tend to go first but this has lasted just perfect even though the drawers are stuffed to the brim!!!

Molly, I am so glad to hear that your sleigh bed from BL has held up for 5 years. We bought a sleigh bed from BL about 6 months ago and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! We have bought other furniture from BL and love it as well. We haven't bought upholstered furniture, but our bed, bookcases and entertainment center are all wonderful! People think we spent hundreds more for them that we did.

DH and I bought our sleigh bed from BL 2 1/2 years ago. It is still in perfect condition, we LOVE it!

I also have the sleigh bed and dresser for about 5 yrs. and just like new. My sister in law bought the exact same bed for 2,000 sshhshhhh she thinks she got a good deal, she wouldnt think i was telling the truth if i told her i got it a big lots

I purchased my kitchen table at Big Lots. It was over $300 but it is solid wood and that thing has taken a beating! Well worth the money!
