Coupon Acceptance Policy
In service of Creating Great Customer Experiences our stores should follow the steps below
when accepting coupons:
General
We accept coupons that have not expired.
We will only accept coupons for purchased items.
Competitor coupons will not be accepted in our stores.
We will accept Manufacturer, Store, Internet and Catalina Coupons (see below for
details)
Manufacturer Coupon is a coupon that generally comes from a newspaper,
newsletter, at the product location or the internet that can be redeemed for
a specific value.
Store Coupon is a coupon that is generated by Food Lion, LLC or any
individual brand.
Internet Coupon is a printable coupon from an internet website; legitimate
internet coupons should print clearly and the customer should have no
more than one coupon per item.
Catalina Coupon is a coupon which prints at the register at the end of a
transaction which targets items for which a specific customer may
purchase.
Coupons with limits specified on them must be followed.
No “cash back” should be given for coupons of any kind.
Customers may not use more than 1 coupon per item with a maximum of 10
coupons for the same item per customer.
Manufacturer, Store and Catalina Coupons
We will only accept these coupons that are in date and the product or purchase
requirements have been met.
If the coupon will not scan and is $5.99 or less (Food Lion, Bloom, Bottom
Dollar, and Reid’s) or $2.99 or less (Harveys) and;
Has a barcode, enter the barcode numbers.
Does not have a barcode, you can enter the value of the
coupon using the appropriate coupon and department key.
If the coupon will not scan and is more than $5.99 (Food Lion, Bloom,
Bottom Dollar, and Reid’s) or more than $2.99 (Harveys), it will require a
manager override.
Coupons with limits specified on the coupon must be followed.

Internet Coupons
We will only accept Internet coupons that appear to be originals.
If the coupon will not scan and is $5.99 or less (Food Lion, Bloom, Bottom
Dollar, and Reid’s) or $2.99 or less (Harveys) and;
Has a barcode, enter the barcode numbers.
Does not have a barcode, you can enter the value of the
coupon using the appropriate coupon and department key.
If the coupon will not scan and is more than $5.99 (Food Lion, Bloom,
Bottom Dollar, and Reid’s) or more than $2.99 (Harveys), it will require a
manager override.
We will not accept internet coupons from other retailers.
We will not accept FREE internet coupons.
o Example: FREE product- with no purchase requirements specified
We will accept FREE internet coupons ONLY if a purchase requirement is
specified on the coupon and is met
o Example: FREE product when you purchase X or spend Y
Coupons for free Items
We can accept Manufacturer and Store coupons for free items.
We can not accept Free Internet Coupons.
The value of the free item can not exceed the purchase price of that item.
o Counterfeit Coupons
What to look for:
If there is a picture of the product on the coupon, often times the picture is
blurry.
If misspellings or multiple fonts are used on the coupon, that could be an
indicator of fraud.
