QUESTION Costco ~ Is the 2% Executive rebate pre- or post-coupons?

Does anyone know if Costco deducts coupons from the spending they base the 2% Executive rebate on? Given that they do not deduct sales tax from coupons, they are obviously treating them as manufacturer funded, not Costco, so they SHOULD be including the pre-coupon amount. I just got a new cell phone there today, it rang up at $99.99 less $99.99 coupon, leaving me with $7.37 in sales tax to pay. I was wondering if I'd get $2 back on it. Since Costco doesn't send you an itemized list with the 2% rebate, it would be pretty tough to tell from that.

Reward is approximately 2% of pre-tax purchases of most merchandise made through: front-end registers and most ancillary business registers at Costco warehouses. Reward is not calculated: (i) on purchases of cigarettes or tobacco-related products, gasoline, Costco Cash Cards, postage stamps, alcoholic beverages, and at food courts; (ii) on membership fees; (iii) on purchases not recorded through Costco's front-end registers and transactions done on or through Web sites not hosted by Costco even if accessed through Costco.com, including all business, consumer, and insurance services, the online photo center, Costco Travel, and the My Publisher website; (iv) on miscellaneous fees, deposits and taxes, including sales tax; (v) where prohibited by law or regulation; (vi) on purchases made by anyone other than the account's primary or primary Household Cardholder; and (vii) on certain other categories as determined at Costco's discretion, which may change without notice.

    hope this helps

    I'm going to say no.

Costco is a different can of worms. They really aren't "manufacturer coupons" in the same sense as those that come in the Sunday paper (just look at the barcode, and you actually do not need the physical coupon to get such a deal), they're almost more like instant rebates.

And as to SHOULD--no, they really shouldn't. Just because another store does, doesn't mean that Costco automatically should. You didn't pay anything for the item except for tax, why should you come ahead from the deal just because you had a Costco coupon to pay for the phone?
