Default Dominicks Store Limiting IP & Not Talking Wine Tags

I was at a Dominicks in Arlington Heights and they limit to 1 IP and they would not take NAPR wine tags. They said it was corporate policy for both. Has anyone else heard of this or was it just this one store? I didn't have a problem with expired coupons though.

There is such inconsistency with Dom's--glad I don't really shop there! I have heard (on another board, a bunch of different locations) that they will only take 1 IP per transaction--no matter if you have different IPs for different items or what. The Dom's closest to me (Wolf & 31st, I think it's Westchester) has let me use multiple IPs before in 1 transaction. As far as wine tags, I dunno--how can it be a corporate policy not to take them if there's NAPR & it's a STATE LAW??? I'd call corporate!
    Database Havelist construction is complete!!!
If you would like to trade, please PM me!

I think I am going to contact corporate tomorrow. At first the checker said I didn't purchase the alcohol but went to the service desk to check and came back with the "it's corporate policy line". I was told it was for the last 3 weeks. I didn't buy that because I figured that somebody would have said something on here if it was happening at all the stores. The manager wouldn't give me a list for the buy 10 save $5 instantly deal either.

I haven't been able to get a ride to Dominicks for a couple of months but the Homer Glen store was so much nicer than this one. Maybe I shouldn't say nicer but they didn't have these kind of rules. They were starting to take a closer look at IP's but that was understandable if they were having problems. This limit one per transaction is crazy though. With Jewel's no longer taking expired coupons, Dominicks has a chance to gain market share in the area. They aren't if they all start acting like this. I hope not because I always liked the atmosphere at Dominicks best.

I've noticed in the last week or so that the Dominicks stores (near northside Chicago area - riverview, etc.), ALL winetags are gone. I used one last week and they asked if I bought the liquor earlier, something they never asked before.
I didn't ask but it seems to agree with your idea that the stores are getting out of the winetag business.

I've noticed over the last year or so that Homer Glen store would only have a few wine tags when they used to have more. The Shorewood store never had any. It seems most of the wine tags are at Jewel. As per state law they can not require you to buy the alcohol for hard liquor. The law does not cover beer and wine although you can sometimes fine wine tags that do not require a beer or wine purchase.

Is it just me or does it seem that the North Side stores are less customer friendly than the South Side stores? I always was able to get the list for a promotion once the sale started at the Homer Glen store without a problem. I could call ahead and they would have a copy waiting for me at the service desk. I thought it was so ignorant of the manager (at least that is what I think he was - I have been finding that more and more asst. managers just say they are the manager at several stores) to say that he put out the tags and they were right. With that many tags mistakes always happen. It is near impossible to not make a mistake when you have that many items.

I shop mostly at Mt Prospect (83 & Golf) but sometimes in Naperville at River/Ogden. I have never used wine tags, but use IP only at Naperville at self-check.

I don't have the link handy, but they do have their coupon policy posted on their site. However, it is dated Sept. 08 but it just appeared recently!! Some things are:
-Limit 1 of each individual coupon (even though we are allowed to print two)
-If the IP coupon is more than 50% the cost of the item, they will not accept it
-No IP for free items (which there really aren't)

Those were the more ridiculous points. And watch it at Jewel, as I heard whispers of the 50% dealie there, too!
I always NEED GC coupons for NEW scripts! From CVS, Target, Wags, Dominicks.

I wasn't allowed to use winetags at the Arlington Heights Dominick's either. The CSR told me that it is a corporate policy. I called the store a couple days later and asked to talk to the store manager. The store manager told me that the head of security of that store told them not to accept winetags (this time is not corporate policy). I am sure if I call again, I will get a different answer.

I was at the Buffalo Grove store and was also told there they would not accept wine tags but they said they would accept IP as long as they weren't for free items.

I have heard of the no more than 50%, no free and they had to have bar codes a few months ago. I was told by the customer service person and cashier that they were told to check out IP's because they were having problems getting reimbursed. There was no mention of limits on any or like IP's. I have also heard at a CVS that they too were having problems with getting reimbursed for IP's. Since they are having problems getting reimbursed I find it understandable for them to take reasonable percautions. The limit of only one IP per customer does seem to be going overboard though.

I have a feeling that the problem isn't people making copies so much as manufacurers being overwhelmed by the response they are getting to people using IP's. There have been a couple of instances where there was a link to an IP and then the manufacturer turned around and said that the IP wasn't legitimate. There was instance that comes to mind that a PDF was put up for a booklet that had a coupon in it. It was shortly afterwards that the manufacturer said it wasn't a legitimate coupon. I think somebody at the company forgot to blank out the space where the coupon was before the PDF was put up.

I still want to figure out what is going on with the wine tags. To me it looks too much like an attempt to bypass the law requiring no hard liquor purchase on coupons. I called the toll free customer service number the other day and was told I would get a call back later that day. I still haven't heard from them. I might have to call them back again if I don't hear from them soon.
