QUESTION Question about Dominicks sale ad

I'm just starting w/ coupon so sorry if I"m asking a silly question. Why is it that Dominick's sale ad doesn't show everything that is on sale? I've gone a few times now where tons of stuff was a great price, but never was mentioned in the add. It makes it harder for me to plan where I should get things for the best price.

I don't get a newspaper, but do get their ads in my mailbox. Is the ad in the newspaper more expansive?

    Thanks!

The ad in the paper is the same as the one in the mailer. It can sometimes be a pain especially when they have a deal like the Rally or the Home for the Holidays that they just had in December where you get $X off automatically or a cat for $X off your next order when you buy #X or $X of certain products. When they have those deals it does run into hundreds of items that are part of the deal and it wouldn't make sense for them to print everything in the paper. When those deals happen it is usually for 2 or 3 weeks and you can usually get a copy of the list at the service desk. You will find that it most often is about 20 pages long.

Also some of the Dominicks sale items are on sale for more than one week. They may only advertise it in the paper only one week. Whenever you do your shopping it is always a good idea to check the the store tag to see when the sale on that specific item ends.

I don't think all sales items are ever ALL included in any store's ad. There is just too much! I agree though, I have found a good deal in the aisles not in the ads. However, the best deals are generally in the ad.

Also, at Jewel, stuff that is in the Thursday ad sometimes started the sale price on Sunday. Or items are on sale for 2 weeks as the PP said, so they were in a different week's ad. Hit or miss ;)
I always NEED GC coupons for NEW scripts! From CVS, Target, Wags, Dominicks.

Thanks everyone. I just got the flyer in the mail today and I see the bread that we buy shows it's on sale this week, even though it was on sale last week as well. I've been meal planning around the sale ads, so it's just frustrating to me when I can't research at home to see if I can get a better deal on something else. Since I"m new at this, I'm not at recognizing great prices or sales I can use a coupon with (I don't have a stash of coupons yet so I have to "search" for mine right now).

I should have said this the first time I replied to your question but I hope you will accept this a little late. It is nice to see new members who also shop at Dominicks. Hopefully we will get enough members who request a Dominicks forum but until then keep an eye on the Other Grocery Store forum and also check out the Safeway forum. Ads are mostly the same except for a few items. The other thing to remember is that some Safeway stores have double coupons while many Dominicks take expired coupons.

We all try to post what we find and that will help and you can always post questions and people will help.

Also, Dominick's doesn't like to accept IP coupons. But if you e-mail them you will promptly get a response with their coupon policy. Which does state you can only use one of a kind (ie, not 2 of the same IP in one trip), but at least it will force them to take one. Many limits, but you can at least have proof!

Also, basically all the pharmacists at multiple locations I have visited are always extrememly friendly! I love going there with my GC script coupons, even though I don't shop there without a GC due to the prices!

    Hmm, I didn't know they didn't take them. :(
