Funstuff Carter's ~ Do you think Carter's "store brands" (Child of Mine and Just One Year) have the same quality?

I don't. I've been purchasing from Carter's since before Lili was born. I knew about them (from buying baby gifts), and stumbled into an outlet during a 50% off sale. I was so excited!

I love going to Carter's Outlets! I also love it when the department stores put them on sale. So when I picked up a few items myself and got some at a baby shower that were Carter's Child of Mine (Wal-Mart) and Carter's Just One Year (Target), I was really disappointed in the quality.

They do NOT last as long (IMO), they do not wash as well, the sizing is completely different, the fabric is not nearly the same quality, and overall I was just disappointed.

I am NOT picky about brand name (despite a professed love for Gymboree), I have no problem picking up clothes at any store that I think are cute, be it K-Mart (Yeah for Wonder Kids knock-offs ;) or Wal-Mart or Target. But I had an expectation of quality for Carter's clothing that the store brands did not meet. (Same goes for K-Mart's Wonder Kids line, for that matter.)

Just curious if anyone else felt the same way. :)

Poop. I put in the wrong answer-- coffee hasn't kicked in.

I have bought a couple of items at the outlet that were Child of Mine, and the quality is definitely different. Sizing is off... most of DS 24 month/2T stuff still (barely) fits, and the COM shirts are looking like cropped tops on him. Not a good look.

I love Carter's... 75% or more of his clothes have come from the outlet up to this point. I am going to have to branch out, because he's moving into 3T, and the larger sized stuff is pretty thin on the ground at my outlet. I also don't like the ugly logos and stuff on the older kid's clothes for boys.

No, they are not the same quality. I buy most of my stuff used anyways, but I can still tell which ones came from Wal-mart and which ones are "real" LOL

DD wears 3T Carter's from Wal-mart (and she is only 10 months old!!). Normally she wears 24months/2T. And yes, DS has a ton of those belly shirts that MrsP is talking about too.

Huh, you know Ive never really looked at which carter's most of dd's clothes are but that may be why I've not understood why people say carter's is good as I've found them to be low quality!

If you have an outlet near you they have Carter's clothes for kids up to a size 7 for boys, I think. So you can still buy more for a while. Osh Kosh also makes good clothes for kids, and I know from shopping there for my daughters they go up to a size 16, at least in the girls section.

IME, the Outlets do get thinner, though, as the sizes go up. The larger sizes comprise maybe 1/3 of the store, with the baby/toddler stuff taking up most of it.

I have to agree with you. I don't understand why many brands have to make clothing so tacky with logo's and gaudy stuff. I do like carters but they run smaller. The other carter's co brands such as child of mine are cheaper quality but they still have a very cute variety. I don't mind prices because I buy 2nd hand from resale shops or better yet garage sales. I like my kids to look good but i refuse to pay a high price for such a quick wear.

I so agree with you ladies about Child of Mine. My son is only 3 months old and I have yet to purchase him any clothes. Everything he has is from my baby shower, but I did receive several Child of Mine outfits.
I find it interesting that you are saying the clothes run small, because I'm finding in the baby clothes they are sized big. Same with Small Wonders from K-Mart. I'm not complaining because we all know how quickly babies grow and sooner or later the stockpile of clothes he received will no longer fit and I will need to actually buy his clothes myself. :O)
Thanks for the heads up on the small sizing.

My DD was like that - she wore 0-3 months until she was 6/7 months old.

Comparatively - to other brands - Genuine Carter's runs big and the Carter's store brands run small.
