Children's Place ~ Monster Sale Realization

I was in the mall yesterday and decided to stop into Children's Place. I had been watching their Monster Sale online, but decided to check out the store before I placed the order online.

The store was really disappointing. They had a few items on clearance, but about 9 out of 10 of them were size 6-9 months. (This would fit my son now, but he has plenty of clothes now! He needs some for next summer!) So that was a bummer.

The worst part was that when I came home and decided to place my order, three of the items I'd placed in my shopping cart that morning were sold out.

yeah, unfortunately putting them in your cart doesn't make them yours. quite a few of the things i had in my cart ended up getting sold out, and then even after i placed my order, and it took them a week to get it shipped (never had this issue with them before) two more of my items were sold out and didn't come.
my store was pretty picked over this time, even on the first day of 1/2 off, but i was able to get alot online that day. i've noticed that TRU is pretty picked over also, and i always hit there 50% clearance stuff, but there's not much there.

I was way too late online and everything I wanted was sold out. In the store I was able to get a few things for DS for next year but the girls stuff was horribly picked over and only baby sizes were left.

Last year I got DD's entire summer wardrobe at the 50% off clearance price and got everything I wanted.

There's a key to getting good clearance sales, IMHO.

I have 2 choices for malls near me. Both the same distance away, about 40 minutes. One is the Raleigh/Durham area, with at least 4 malls, with a variety of kid's stores in them and others around them.

The other choice is a city with one single mall (at least that I know of), and some stores outside of it. It is a college town.

Even though there is less choice, I always go to the college town when I'm looking for deals. For instance, their Gymboree ALWAYS has tons of stuff far beyond when the other stores do. I don't know if it's the demographics, or it being a smaller population, or what. But I always hit up the less-populated areas when trying to get the goods on clearance. :D

I do sometimes think about demographics, as well. It all depends on where I'm trying to get clearance (TCP, Gymboree, TRU, Wal-Mart, Target, etc.)

I hit the motherload yesterday at the outlets in Williamsburg. Got several $1.99 tops & shorts for next summer for my youngest two and socks for $.74. Tons of people there, but still found some great stuff.

Also got an injury on my forhead by a stupid rack...lol, but we won't go there!

I had a problem with my shipping too. It took a week to even ship the items but once they were shipped, got the package in 2 days! I had emailed about the delay before the package was shipped and was told that they were recently having some difficulty with their shipping department.

Just a note on Children's Place. If you have an outlet near you, September and October are the best month's for clearance. I went last year and they had everything (except the brand new items) on sale for $2.99. Also, if you use your Place Perks card you can earn $10 for every $75 and then you can also use your 15% coupons...making the deal even sweeter!!!

How do you get 15% off coupons, and how do you get a "place perks card"?

If you go to https://placeperks.instorecard.com/c...up&Step=signup you can sign up for a Place Perks card. And with that you should start receiving coupons in the mail every so often. They are good at regular stores and their outlets. You can also sign up for the birthday club on their site, www.childrensplace.com.

I am planning on hitting the outlet in Wisconsin (Dells) this weekend. Do you think they will have anything?
