Often gift cards are not taken when a store is closing due to financial problems - I would spend them quickly.
If they won't take their gift cards or reward cards, will any other store take them? Argh!!!

Hmm, ours (San Jose, CA) already closed a few months back, in the summer. I got some great deals on tablecloths, rugs, towels, and kitchen stuff (Calphalon knives in a block for like $25!).
I keep hearing that they're "going to be closing" but ours is already gone! Anyway, I do encourage you all to visit. Should be great for picking up Christmas and Hanukkah gifts!

When I was looking up information for the thread I just started about Mervyn's closing, I found this info:
"Earlier this week, Linens 'N Things backed out of restructuring plans that included some store closures and decided to shut its remaining 371 stores."
So it looks like they're closing ALL of their stores. If you have gift cards, better go find a store that's not yet being liquidated and spend now!

I just called the Mill Creek, NJ store and they assured me they are still taking gift cards. I have a $10 one, so I was concerned. Better spend it quickly!!
IMHO, That would be scandalous if they told you they could not take their own gift card. I would contact the Attorney General on that issue if they tell you that......it doesn't matter if they are going out of busines....until they officially do, they have to honor their card, bought with cash.
I hopped inside to take a peek...they said they are not sure when official closing is, no word yet if before or after Christmas, but they were told sometime in December. Right now pretty much everything in that particular store was 20%, even though the national tv ads say 40%. As the weeks go on, the % will go up, but the merchandise will go down, as they bulk sell to liquidators and sales go up. Eventually there will be a 75% off sale, and the hoardes of people will be throwing elbows. It was like that the last week Mikasa was open, and other huge stores that I went to their big last sale. We'll see. Could be great deals, but mostly depressing that they are going out of business. That leaves only Blood Bath and Beyond.
I guess you guys already know about this. My husband told me today about the store closing. Hope I find some good deals tomorrow.
Anyone know when the next day of markdowns will be? We went this weekend and things are still pretty expensive. I'm waiting for the BIG markdowns.
I just called and they are 25-50% off at my local store in Winston-Salem, NC.
Do they still accept the 20% Q's they used to have in their flyers to their already marked down merchandise?
