I would only get two year ahead after age 5 because children change on what they like to wear and by age 6. She is going to want one thing and age 7 it might be something else.
My daughter told me for next year that she wanted jeans with nothing on them (designs). Which has been popular for some time now. She is only 7.

There are many things in her closet that she has never worn because she does not liike them.

I am currently only doing one size up because both of my children changed thier mind what is cool to wear.

Hehe, is the an option for buying kids ahead, not just sizes ahead?

Seriously, there was some awesome stuff on the $5.99 rack, that was 20% off and then with the 20% coupon it was dirt cheap. So...since I only have one kiddo at this point, I now have some 3-6 and 6-12 month clothes for upcoming kids!

I know I am in the minority, but I have completely sworn off buying ahead. I used to buy things here and there, but then I had trouble finding things to match. Now that my daughter is almost 4, I now buy about half of a collection (mostly dresses because that is all she wears). I couldn't believe it, but it is actually saving me money to buy it this way. I only buy the pieces that she likes and since they all mix and match we actually need less clothes - a lot less actually. Plus, this keeps me out of the store and it is ALOT less tempting to buy that one cute cheap shirt that we really don't need.

I do not usually buy ahead at all anymore. My kids change their mind on what they like too much. Also my son grew 8 sizes in one year so I would have been out of luck. He grew from a size 8 to a 16!!!!!! he is only 11 so no I don't buy ahead. I catch the clearance sales and I live in Washington so it is not ever very warm here...lol. I do the kidvantage at sears VERY USEFUL!!!

I wish I could buy ahead but my little guy grows way too quick to do so. He's 14mo. and in a 3T!

i try to buy things on clearance for the upcoming seasons, but i also keep in mind that ds gets hand me downs from his older cousins. Also i was waiting out ds's bday party which was yesterday to see what items he got and i will take some of the bday money he got and search for deals on things that he needs like shoes and lounge pants for the fall. With the hand me downs, bday clothes and the money he gets for bdays along with what i pick up along the year for $1-3 a piece or less, shopping for ds is relatively cheap and easy. I have all the larger handmedowns arranged on shelves in his closet divided in different styles, shorts, jeans, ls, ss etc. and have the smaller sizes on top and the larger on bottom, so i can easily access those. I normally hang the NWT shirts with his shirts that fit him now so i can glance at them and i put the NWT pants with the handme down pants in their designated spot. But alas, i have a ton of space and only 1 lo at the moment so I can devote a whole walk in closet to his clothes...BTW, i also live about 2 miles from a children's place outlet, so i check in there every so often to pick up pieces on the 1.99 or .99 rack and a few times a year when i have a 15% or 20% i can combine with a monster sale, i try to stock up then for ds and for bday gifts.
New baby in the house so I am couponing lightly!
