New produce coupons in WIC packages

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this or not, so if not, mods feel free to move this to the right place.

My DD is 2 years old, and we do qualify for WIC. Years ago, when my DS was little, he was on it too. I noticed changes in the coupons you get in your monthly package.

You still get milk, juice, eggs, cheese, cereal, peanut butter. But two new items: bread (or brown rice or corn tortillas, you get to choose.) And coupons for fresh produce. Actually, you have the option of using the coupons for canned, frozen or fresh fruits and vegetables. In the 3 month packet of coupons, I got a $6 voucher for fresh fruits and vegetables. You have to use up the whole $6, you can't get change back. So I try to hit the $6 mark, or get as close to it as I can.

Also, in this month's package, I got several coupons to use at my local Farmer's Market! They are good through October. They can only be used on fresh fruits and vegetables, no jam, breads, etc. And you have to use up the whole coupon, vendors don't make change. But still...cheap, homegrown fruits and vegetables! Not sure if this is the case in all areas.

It is the same here in TN. I get all of that as well for DD(2.7).

wish i would get the farmer market coupons. i re-applied for wic for my 4 y.o. daughter and was surprised how much it has changed in the couple years since i last got it. we get the fresh fruit and bread item like you mentioned.

I wish I got the coupons to use at the framer market. I jsut pick the wic cards up for my twins for the last (they will be 5) and I did not get the ones for the farmers market..

I'm on it for my twins here in CA and we've gotten the bread and produce for as long as I can remember. We get the farmers market vouchers too but they tell us where to go for that, so I don't get those since it would be a 30 minutes drive one way.
