That looks awesome. Thinking I might have to pick that up and save for birthday in a few months. Thanks!
Last night doing some hunting around for something else, I spun down the path of getting lost on the internet and found this site:
Topobo construction kit with kinetic memory
It's a kinetic memory contruction set that came about as a PhD project of an MIT grad. Honestly, we were so impressed with this, that when I sent the link to Mark in Iraq, he told me to buy this and set aside the robotics kit we bought for our youngest son that he wouldn't be able to build unassisted. This set requires no computer programming or open source software. So even young kids can do it.
And the reviews online from the tech geeks out there are fabulous.
Here's the kicker - the kits are in a prototype line only, so when they're gone they're gone. But, right now, they are doing a 50% off which makes the basic kit just $125 + shipping. Yep, it's a bit spendy, but, the Lego Mindstorms are closer to $300. And, these are compatible to the Lego Mindstorms and Technic kits.
So if you have a kiddo who's mechanically inclined - this is perfect for ages 5-13, and you want to fuel that imagination, I'm betting that this is going to be an amazing gift.
The code in the checkout is MAKE. And they are rush shipping for Christmas if you order by 12/21.
