Bad case of laryngitis...

OK, here is it 2 weeks after having a really nasty cold and I still have a major case of laryngitis. Yesterday was really bad. DH was trying to make me "preserve my voice" by not saying a word -- my opinion is that he just loved the peace and quiet...LOL Anyway, that doesn't really work when you have a 3 y/o to handle. I've tried Ricola drops and keeping my throat moist, but nothing seems to be working. I did have tonsillar cancer 6 yrs ago with 6 weeks of radiation to my neck, but haven't really had problems since then. Maybe I just have weak vocal cords? I don't know. It's really frustrating though. If it doesn't get better by the end of the week, I think I'll go get it checked out by my ENT doctor. In the meantime, anyone have any other advice? My throat isn't sore -- just left with a dry cough, mostly at night.

No suggestions...just hoping you get your voice back soon.

LOL...I know there are some days that my DH wishes I would lose my voice...but I am sure yours wants you to get better soon too!!

Wow! Two weeks and still no voice? Not trying to scare you at all but I'd check in with your doctor sooner than later considering your medical history. Hope your voice comes back soon :)

When I have laryngitis, I have to stop talking before I get better. When I have totally lost my voice, it usually takes a few days of no talking before it slowly starts to come back. It takes about two full weeks before I get the full range of my voice back. If I stop talking before I totally lose my voice and rest my voice for a little while, it doesn't take as long for my voice to get back.

It is frustrating to not be able to talk. Take it easy!
