Default Hypothyroid (Fogheads?) check in here

When this board first started there was a thread that got a little hi-jacked by all of us hypothyroid folks. I just wanted to see how everyone is doing.

Hey fellow hypo's!! (we really need to come up with a better nickname!)

I am (was) doing ok till this evening. My heart started racing for no good reason. Time to make another appt. to get checked. I hate it when that happens....it leaves me feeling like I have run a marathon when I haven't even moved at all. Drats....I hate the halter monitor...I bet I will have to do it again.

Everyone remembering to take their meds??

Oh...I read somewhere about pill splitting to cut down on med costs. Does anyone do this? If the cost of different dosages is equal, it would save me some $$ on my co-pay. Plus I would only have to go to the pharmacy half as often.

Well, I take the highest dosage they make -- 200 mcg/daily, so pill splitting won't work for me. I take Synthroid and my doc has advised against the generic just because it took so long to get my levels corrected. Apparently, although they fall within acceptable FDA ranges, generic drugs can vary some from month to month in strength. I have absorption problems too, so I have to stick with whatever works.

I'm doing well, though. My levels are correct, and I'm remembering to take my stuff every morning. All is well for this hypo!

Ask your doctor to write your script for double the quanity. My son's concerta script is written for 60 pills a month even though he only take 30 a month.

BTW, i'm on my meds and taking them daily.

200??? Wow...50 keeps me at the low end of the range...goes to show that 'the range' is relative to each person.
