So sorry....praying you find relief SOON....hugs
I am so tired of pain and so very frustrated. About 3 weeks ago i started having a dull pain where my tailbone is .I really didnt think anything of it but it has gradually got worse now it is my tailbone, upper buttocks and right hip.. I went to the emergency room about 5 days ago, when i could barely walk. they took an xray and said that nothing was broke. They took a urine test to see if it was kidney stones and it wasn't. They gave me pain meds that didn't even touch the pain only made me vomit. They referred me to another doctor which refuses to see me because i don't have insurance. I have no idea what to do i just want to scream because of the intense pain. Since leaving the hospital 5 days ago i am not any better and now my left leg from my hip to my knee is completly numb on one side. I can still barely walk and when i do i feel like my legs are going to give out.
I was told in 2005 after going off a cliff on an ATV landing nearly 300ft that i would have serious problems in the future.. I am just wondering if this is one of those problems. Needless to say i am tired of pain and i am completly frustrated i can't get a doctor to see me because of lack of insurance . What would you do?
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

So sorry to hear that! I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like sciatica or at the very least, a pinched nerve in your spine. Doctors are great about ignoring the problem, because there isn't much they can do about it. My Mom has suffered with it for years and most of the time, the doctors tell her there is nothing wrong.
She has on occasion gotten some relief from chiropractors, but it generally doesn't last and gets expensive over the long term. Wish I could offer a helpful solution.
There are a lot of site with information on sciatica. This one is very basic, but sounds much like your symptoms: Sciatica Causes, Symptoms, Treatment - Sciatica Symptoms on eMedicineHealth
we deal with pain like that,,,besides pain management maybe some cheap stuff could help
try biofreeze,,,,gob it on like every few minutes for 30 minutes,,,we like the roll on and slather it on until it's blue,,,we have used aspercream, sportscream but like biofreze the best,,,get it chiropractors and some small indep pharmacies.
try a tenz unit (not when you have biofreeze on),,,they use these at the chiro too,,,,,
try heat therapy,,,,a sock stuffed with rice and heated up for 90 seconds
alternate with ice therapy,,,some chiro's sell the gel packs for $10,,,,I have seen the small ones at the drug stores
I used 2048 q's FEB 2011 because of SFShopper
,,,offline,,,,,alot!

Sounds just like me when my sciatica acts up. I am sorry to tell you nothing much has ever helpes mine. If you can pay to see a chiropractor I will say that helps me more than any drug that I took for it. About the only way a drug would help it was if I got a good pain pill and a muscle relaxer to take at them same time so it would well knock me out or almost knock me out.
Dont pick up heavy items, or do lot of bending ect onice its better I find that those things make it flare up more. If you car is low to the ground that dont help matters much either or did not for me.
Have you use heat then ice on it about 10/15 mins of each back and forward may help you some. Or moist heat?
I have a sore spot in my hip(up high near the well you know) all the time from this. I dont notice it nuch anymore unless some pushes on it or near it.
I hope it get better soon. I have had spells to last weeks and weeks at a time. Take it easy dont bend, left ect anymore than you really really have to..if you work take a few days off and set around the house work will be there when you feel better.

It does sound like sciatica. Try a chiropractor.
Sounds like either Sciatica or possibly a pinched/compressed nerve. I'd start with a chiro.
Your in Utah, there was a sliding scale clinic here: Oquirrh View Health Center

I have a bulging disc in my back that causes numbness in both thighs if I stand for more than 5 minutes - walking causes my lower back to tighten up to the point that I have to sit down or bend over.
I've been dealing with this for 10 yrs now.
One that I do that helps me is sleep on my side with a small pillow between my knees, it reduces stress on the lower back. Other than that, it's Motrin or store brand IB as needed. Nothing, however, stops the numbness issue except sitting.
I tried physical therapy 1-2 times per week for several months and while that helped, it was very temporary in any relief. Also went to a chiropractor for a period of months as well, again, very temporary. Since the bulging disc can't be 'fixed' through those efforts, anything is temporary except surgery which I'm not ready to go through.
I'm sorry you're dealing with that kind of pain, I know what a drag it is on you day to day
They didn't find the problem until I had scans done - but then, since I'm not willing to go the surgery route, I just have to learn to handle it the best I can.

I came back to tell you. That often when my Sciatica flares up some how my tailbone gets poped out of place that can cause alot of pain also. Its easy to pop back in place if it is with the help of someone that knows what to do.
