    HELP HELP! Severe Hip Pain

I have pain in both of my hips when I walk or stand. It started in my left hip a few days ago and now is in my right. Anyone ever have this? It is so bad, it feels like my leg is going to give out when I am standing - the muscle in my hip joint up through buttocks spasms. Is this bursitis?

I will be praying for you. I am not sure what is causing you these problems but by any chance do you wear Sketchers shape ups tennis shoes? I wear them and every once in awhile I get that same pain you are describing. I have to take Advil for a few days and then the pain goes away. Those shoes really make you tone up. I hope you figure out what it is but it could be that if you are wearing those shoes.
    Please pray for my family.

Thanks Shelley. I don't think it is shoe related but I do think I did something to throw something out of whack (for lack of a better way of explaining). If it is not better in a day or so, I will have to see a doctor.

CW&W - thanks also. I am sorry about all your mom is going through. I can't imagine having this pain all the time, along with all else she is dealing with.

I've lived with this for the past 20 years. I have bursitis in both hips, and also have sciatica. The combination of the two leaves me in tears some days. I love to cook, but some days, just standing in my kitchen long enough to prepare a meal is more than I can handle.

I hope this isn't the case for you. I wouldn't wish this on anyone!

I am sorry to hear this Does the muscle on the side of your hip feel like it spasms and cause pain in the groin/pelvis? When standing does it feel like your leg is going to give out at the hip area? It is very painful. Have you found anything to help?

I do have the spasms, but I don't get pain in my groin area. Mine is mostly on the outslde of my hip area (if that makes sense). It feels like there's no cushion between the bones, so they feel like they're just grinding together. And yes, it does feel like my leg is going to give out. The Sciatica pain radiates all the way down the back of my leg, to the bottom of my foot. When they're both acting up at the same time, it's very frustrating!

I have Sciatica also. due to pinched nerve because of back disc problems. Makes me have muscle spasms in legs. I had to look up bursitis. My hips hurt also when it gets cold. I have a hot bath with Epson salt. soak at least 15 minutes is the only thing that helps me. It is a real big pain:(. these symptoms act up when I am on my feet too much doing chores. I have to rest a lot, putting my feet up when resting helps. Not crossing legs when resting too. It cuts off circulation. hope this helps and hope u feel better soon.

I was going to say try soaking your body. We tend to forget that we were in water the 1st 9months of our life. The body needs to be immersed in water at least once a week, I usually say 20 minutes, but 5 minutes is good enough for the cells to awaken to purity. I will be praying for you, too. Definitely take a load off and relax in water with salt.

I have hypothyroidism, and hip pain is one of the symptoms. It feels like someone is taking a knife tip, and trying to pry the ball out of the socket, and it's worse when it's damp or cold. hth
