Default surgery..my knee is done now

I am having surgery on my knee next tuesday. I tore some stuff in there that needs to be fixed to keep it from getting any worse..Did not see this comeing. Anyone ever have knee surgery? He said it takes about a month to heal but that the frist 4/5 days would be really hard.

Then but I saw this comming

I am going to have surgery for my acid reflux. The band that keeps the acid down dont work anymore. They have to go in a tighten it back up. Not sure when this is going to be done just yet. This is causing my breathing to be bad all the time for the acid is spilling over into my lungs at night. This acid reflux thing has been going on for about 7 years now but at first I was told by several dr.'s that I did not have acid reflux because I do not have heart burn then I had the chalk test where you drink and have pictures took while you drink the chalk(I know what its call cant think of it).. My breathing dr had a ph test done where they go in and put a chip in your stomach/ect and you wear a box for 2 days that gets info from the chip about the acid/ect. The test showed that I was a acid ph of 9.4 out of 10(bad) the worst that the dr that done the test has ever saw...
I am thinking that this is a major surgery. So I am just wondering if anyone on here has ever had this surgery and if it worked for them.

I'm sorry to hear about all this!

My son had his ACL completely rebuilt (gone, blew it away!) last year, and it is painful, lots of physical therapy but once it's behind you, you won't regret it!

As to the acid reflux issue, I can't help, no one I know has ever had that done.

I haven't had either, Teresa, but I've known several that had knee surgery. It's tough at first, but when they work, it's wonderful. One had to have it redone, but the 2nd one was great after all was settled & some time passed.

    Prayers for a speedy recovery.

I had knee sugery a couple of years ago. I had a mensicus tear and then when they got in there , they discovered I had at some point fractured my knee cap. They did outpaitent surgery. I recovered very quickly. It still bothers me sometimes but I have a lot of arthritis in it now.

I do but its more to clear my airways then anything. At night I have backwash to come up and out my mouth and nose.(hurts)

I have asthma and after years of only have problems with it when I got some kind of chest cold. I start haveing problems breathing from just walking around in the house and going to the mailbox was a real task. So I got a breathing dr and I told him about how my breathing was, about the acid comming up at night, food getting hung in my chest wall, all the time sinus problem and that I have to go number #2 about 6 to 10 times a day everyday. He put me on some meds for the acid and my breathing then done some test. when I went back he put me on ragland (I think its called) that was suppose to tighten the band and keep the acid in my stomch but it did not work, so he sent me to another dr for the acid that dr put me on meds from canda for tightening the band but after a few days I had to stop taking it for i got a major rash from it. Now the only thing to do to fix the problem is surgery(fundoplcation). The acid has also cause problems with my esophagus now I also will have to have that streached before to long. The acid is comming up so high from my stmoach that it is bruning and scaring everything in its path.

This is my problem also and I have arthritis in it also. He said that he was going to see about what he could do for that while in there, that they will shave some of the bone away. I have never had any problems with my knee before this. My 4 year old son tripped me and then it begun. I think the artritis is from a car wreack back from when I was like 20 my knees went into the dash but they were ok a few days later blue but ok. They are both sore I to pressure but never hurt other wise until now.

What type of knee surgery are you having? What is being repaired/cleaned up? I would really need this information to give you an appropriate answer.

Are you having your meniscus repaired, or scoped? Or did you tear you ACL or MCL? Potentially your PCL or LCL (less common)?

Short end: Having your knee scoped to clean up a meniscal tear is a few weeks recovery.
Long end: Having an ACL reconstruction is about 5-6 months or more to be back to full strength, depending on the doctor and physical therapist/athletic trainer.

    Can't help on the knee

for the acid reflux. Are you having a nissen done? Or the nissen repaired?

Not sure on a band..that sounds more like a lap band like weight loss surgery...but not normally used just for reflux issues.
