Maybe they are too strong of prescription for you. Maybe see if you can get the prescription lowered....if it is possible.
Any suggestions?
A few years back I was getting headaches from reading so I went to the dr and he said I had an astigmatism. So he gave me glasses. But since I can see fine, I didn't wear them all the time. But when I did wear them, they gave me headaches.
Any suggestions? Other than wearing glasses all the time?

There's a thread on here somewhere discussing the results we receive from optometrists. I'm in the camp of "not all optometrists are created equally or equally qualified." You might be getting headaches because your eyes are not used to the prescription, but I would also be inclined to agree the prescription is not meeting your needs. Have you tried just using magnifiers from the dollar store?

I suffer from that too whether I wear my glasses or not and I have a high prescription cuz I am nearly blind as a bat. I take excedrin migraine ALOT. it sucks having headaches all the time.
My guess is one of two things. Either the prescription is incorrect, or they have been ground wrong. Can you see fine with them? Other than the headaches, of course. I've worn glasses since I was 7, so have been through many pairs. I always use an opthamologist (which is a medical doctor) rather than an optometrist (which does not have an MD degree). If you still have your written script, I would take it to someone other than who you got it from to verify that is correct as written.
I have these regular, whether I wear my glasses or not, or contacts. Plus I get migraine, I take a prescription my dr gave me. I hate these headaches!
I thought I was the only one!
I feel like I see the same with the glasses or without them. I haven't really considered that they prescription could be wrong. (Seems like an obvious thing lol)
I don't have vision insurance so are the ophthalmologists more expensive? Or any chance my health insurance covers them?
I don't have any insurance. I went earlier this year after not having been for over 5 years. Paying cash got me a 20% discount (if paid in full at the time). I think it cost around $225 for a full exam. My glasses, however cost about $650. I have the no-line trifocals....there's a name for it, but I forgot what it is. I'm old. lol Progressive...that's it! First time I've ever had them. I got used to these faster than any other pair I've ever had.
THey may be a little more expensive, but when I called around to check on various places (including some optometrists), the $50 or so extra is worth it to me. They'll do a glaucoma check and can look for any other diseases of the eye. Or see a detached retina. I'll bet prices are a little cheaper down there than up here. Everything is more expensive up here.
I kinda doubt your health insurance would cover it. The only way it might is if there's some medical problem with your eyes (other than needing corrective lenses), but you'd have to check with your carrier.
You said it's been a few years--have you had your eyes checked lately? Also, ask your doctor about a "mid-range" prescription for computer use. You may need glasses for certain applications and not others.
FWIW, you could consider ordering glasses online. I've done this for a few years and have saved so much money! I have not noticed a difference in quality or eyesight either.
