Ok, now I've been on my period for over 3 weeks. Is this something I should be concerned about? My hubby keeps wanting me to go to the doctor.

Is this unusual for you? Is it heavy? I would agree with your hubby - you should go to the doctor.

The last year my cycles have been all out of wack!!! Even before that I would have some issues the couple of years before but not this major. I had about 3 cycles that I was about 2 weeks late. Then I went about 2 or 3 months without a period. Then I had a period that lasted about 2 weeks and there was a lot of big clots. Then, after I got off my period, about two weeks later I started again and it's been a little over 3 weeks now. I think I'm going through perimenopause because I have most of the symptoms. I've read that stuff like this happens when you go through perimenopause. Lately it has been on the heavy side. It started off light. I just want to be off of my period.

It is so hard to tell with all these symptoms though. I am 28 and have a lot of these stymptoms but also have 2 autoimmunie dieseases and thryoid problems that present many of the same stymptoms.
I would go see your doctor, perhaps they can clear things up with more reasearch.

Please, please, please go to see your doctor! My big sis passed away last summer of a rare form of uterine cancer, at age 39. She had been having irregular and heavy periods for a while before going for a checkup. She had grown fibroids that were cancerous, and unfortunately it spread to some nearby lymph nodes by the time she had a hysterectomy. She only lived for 10 months after her diagnosis.

    This might be TMI --

I noticed small changes in my cycle since age 36. I'm 40 now and sometimes my periods are so heavy I don't want to leave the house. If I go to work, I make sure to take plenty of pads and tampons. I'm literally running to the restroom every 2 hours. This is for 2-3 days, then i completely stop for a day, then start again. So frusterating. I thought I was the only person who stopped for a day, then started back. Sometimes I spot a little before my period, then sometimes after my period. (never happened before) I think this is low progesterone. I don't know how much longer I can stand this. Sometimes i wish they'd stop completely. It's hard to plan vacations anymore because i'm worried about starting.

I recently tried the drug Lysteda. It's a non-hormonal pill only taken on heavy days and it helps reduce bleeding. it really helps, but still if i don't take it, I go through so many pads. More than i've ever gone through .

I know exactly what you're talking about--this is exactly how my periods are. I have 4-7 days of light spotting, 2 full days of FLOODING, one day of nothing, another 1/2 day or day of flooding and then 3-5 days of spotting again. I am very hesitant to take any kind of hormones at this point, and I don't do anaesthesia unless my death is imminent, so surgery is out. So I guess I'm going to be buying lots of feminine hygiene products!

This list just made my YEAR!!! Now I can go to bed with my 23 out of 35 symptoms, and KNOW I'm not crazy, or going to die!

I knew I was in perimenopause. I just didn't know that the anxiety, feelings of doom, depression, racing heart, and feeling "dead inside" (if ya know what I mean ) were part of it!
I just went to the Dr., which I NEVER do! Because I had convinced myself, I must have high blood pressure or diabetes or something.
They took 10 vials of blood!!! Checked everything they could think of, even gave me an EKG, and the only thing they came up with is my vitamin D is low!
    I'm going to the Gyno!
