Are you sure it's not whatever you use to remove the makeup that's causing it?
These are my eyelids a day after I wear makeup. Ive always worn makeup and never had any problems with it. Now it seems no matter what kind I wear on my eyes, the evening I take my eyemakeup off, my eyelids are soar and irritated and kinda burn and even the next day, I can't wear makeup on them because they are still burning and when I put on my face cream, they will burn after I have had eye makeup on. I make sure my make-up brushes are always clean, I make sure to get the makeup all off, what gives? They are red and irritated.

yup you are having some sort of an allergic reaction. did you change something recently? if not, whatever you are using might of changed the way they make the product which is giving you this reaction.
i would try and pin point what it is. is it the eyeshadow? eyeliner? or the remover?

I pretend tomushrooms. It makes it so much easier to kill them.
Are you using traditional or mineral make up? I have problems with some mineral make up even the foundation and blush by Everyday Minerals higher mica caused my eyes to get red puff up and swell shut. For the life of me I couldn't figure it out in the beginning.
Also my eyes dislike some mascara, did you change that?
Relief for lightly irritated is cortisone cream, just be very very careful. My eyes swelling shut episode sent me to the doctor's. Also an eye shadow base may help too. Oh and the shadows that use red dyes (pinks and purples) cause problems moreso than other colors. :(
Wanted to add: You also might just try cleansing your face or at least your eye area with olive oil or almond or jojoba. Then instead of your usual face cream use a dot of oil on each eye. Almond's my favorite, but olive is easier to get and economical. Then if you just love your usual cleanser try that again once your skin heals.
Not only could it be your eye cleaner, if your eye make-up, esp mascara is slightly old, it could be a irritation to that. They say mascara should only be opened for 6 months and who knows how long the stores keep it on the shelf. How old is the cleaner? Again, who knows how long it was on the store shelf, esp if you have a history of using it with no problem.
Could you be touching your eyes too often after touching your pet? Or, confession time...just snuggling too much with your pet and that causing a reaction?
If you have contacts, check your dates on your cleaners. I have noticed with my contacts if I wear eye make-up sometimes my eyes bother me more, esp if I wear mascara.
Hope this helps.
I hope you figure out what it is. I am sorry you are having these problems. Five years ago I bought some Loreal mascara and it made me go BLIND in my left eye for 5 WEEKS! I was scared out of my mind. I had to get all kind of tests done and a CAT scan to make sure it wasn't my brain. The only thing they could figure out was the mascara. It was brand new but must have been messed up. I prayed like crazy and then it went away after 5 weeks though it was very scary. I really was blind because the eye doctor put the spatula over my right eye and waved his hand over my left eye and I didn't flinch. I had no idea he was doing that. Now I refuse to wear mascara and hardly ever any eye makeup. It is not worth it to me to ever have that happen again. I know it was probably a once in a lifetime thing but it is not fun. I thought I was going to be blind in my eye forever.

I would toss all items you're using and start with fresh. Like someone else said, it's possible that a formula has been changed in one (or more) of your items. Are any of these items made in China? Or another questionable country? A lot of makeup is now coming from there and I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole.
Just for the "ewwww" factor.....don't remember if you have kids or not, but is one of them using your mascara brush as a toilet scrubber? lol You never know.
I will occasionally get a sty in my eyelid, and that is painful, causes swelling and redness till it goes away. I've not gotten one in both eyes at the same time, though. And also (hate to bring this up) but as we age, we sometimes get more sensitive to things that never used to bother us. I would keep a daily log of what I used, so I would know which item(s) may be causing it.
I have gotten those stys before - it's definately not that - its the skin on the eyelids - feels like its burning and very red/irritated. I assume it is hte makeup, makeup brush (although I havent changed what I used and I clean the makeup brushes religiously. I also change out my mascara religiously - every couple months and I don't share make up with anyone. Once it heals, I will slowly reintroduce things and try to figure out what caused it.
I'm going to suggest dermatitis or allergic reaction. Crazy as it sounds, you can suddenly become allergic to something you have been using forever. I developed an allergy to Maybelline cosmetics. I had been wearing various Maybelline foundations, eye shadows and eyeliners for years. Then suddenly, my face started beaking out, had to give up on the Maybelline foundations. Then a few years later, I developed irritated, red eyelids, puffy fluid filled under my eyes, and dry patches (really dry) of skin on my forehead, had to give up on Maybelline eye shadows. Eliminating these products cleared me up. I can only guess they evolved their formulations in such a way, I became hypersensitive.
In this scenario, I would change my brand of cosmetic. You could get some sample products, or if you are like many of us, raid your stockpile.
P.S. I tried to use a Physician's Formula powder, roll-on eye shadow one time. My eyelid immediately started stinging and swelled almost immediately.
